Jackson was a three-time All-American, the 2004 Big 12 Freshman of the Year and was first-team all-conference three times.

Jackson played 123 games with the Longhorns, starting 103. Texas went 30-5 her rookie season and advanced to the 2004 NCAA Sweet 16, as Jackson was named the national freshman of the year by ESPN.

She is the only player in Texas women’s hoops history to have at least 1,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, 300 steals and 150 blocks. Career-wise, Jackson is fifth among Longhorn women’s players with 1,917 points, fourth with 1,039 rebounds, third with 313 steals and seventh with 181 blocked shots. She is one of five players in program history to top 1,000 in both points and rebounds.

Tiffany Jackson, an ex-WNBA player, passed away at the age of 37 following a battle with breast cancer. Jackson was the No. 5 pick in the WNBA draft in 2007 and played in the league for nine years.

The University of Texas player was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and was the current head coach at Wiley College. Jackson was the No. 5 pick in the WNBA draft in 2007 and played in the league for nine years.

Former Texas women’s basketball coach Jody Conradt said: “Tiffany had a great career and was an impact player.

“She was recognised for her all-round game and the fact that she was tremendously mobile and could play multiple positions.

“She was beloved by teammates, and we share in the sadness of her passing.”

After retiring, Tiffany went into coaching and held an assistant role with Texas.

Her most recent role was head coach at Wiley College, an NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) school in Marshall, Texas.

Cancer 

Jackson was first diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in September 2015 while a member of the Shock.

She underwent successful treatment and returned to professional action in Israel before signing with the Sparks in February 2017, culminating a remarkable comeback.

After her cancer diagnosis, Jackson managed to return to the court to play a final season with Los Angeles in 2017 before retiring at age 32. She was an assistant coach at Texas for two seasons.

Breast cancer is a disease in which cells in the breast grow out of control. There are different kinds of breast cancer. The kind of breast cancer depends on which cells in the breast turn into cancer.

“We are deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of Tiffany Jackson, one of the greatest players in the history of Texas women’s basketball,” Texas coach Vic Schaefer said. “I know she was so excited to be the head coach at Wiley College for the upcoming season. She will be sorely missed by so many. Our deepest sympathies go out to her family.”

She played professionally in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) for the New York Liberty, Tulsa Shock, and Los Angeles Sparks. She was later an assistant coach in college basketball for the Texas Longhorns women’s team.

Jackson made her WNBA debut on May 20, 2007, in an 83–71 win over the Chicago Sky. During her rookie season, she led the league in games played (34). She later finished fourth in total rebound percentage (17.5) and fifth in defensive rebound percentage (23.6) the following year.
