Neither team comes into the match playing particularly well.

The Sounders have gone just 3-6-0 in their past nine, which is actually better than RSL, who are 1-4-3 in their past eight.

RSL’s last road win came on May 22 as they’ve gone 2-6-4 away from Rio Tinto Stadium this year.

The good news is that the Sounders have been pretty dominant against RSL at home, especially during the regular season, where they have an 11-3-2 all-time record.

The last time they dropped regular-season points against RSL at Lumen Field was in 2013.

Of course, RSL did get a result as recently as last playoffs, advancing in penalties despite not taking a single shot during the match.

Raúl Ruidíaz returned to the starting lineup for the first time since July 9. Danny Leyva also rejoins the lineup, pushing Cristian Roldan back out to the wing.

Sergio Cordova was able to get behind the Sounders’ defense on a counter-attack off a corner kick to put RSL on the board first.

Cordova was released with only Alex Roldan to beat, and while he was slowed enough to allow Xavier Arreaga and Nouhou to catch up to the play, he still got a shot off.

Stefan Frei made the initial save, but the rebound came right back to Cordova who finished past the scrambling defenders.

Albert Rusnák scored just his second goal of the season, hitting a shot through traffic from the edge of the penalty area to tie the score.

Almost immediately after the Sounders tied the score, they fell asleep and allowed Andrew Brody to sneak in at the far post to put RSL back in front.

The MLS returns to the fold with another round of matches this weekend as Seattle Sounders lock horns with an impressive Real Salt Lake side in an important clash at Lumen Field on Sunday.

Seattle Sounders are currently in eighth place in the MLS Western Conference standings and have been inconsistent so far this season.

The Sounders suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Atlanta United in their previous game and will need to bounce back this weekend.

Real Salt Lake, on the other hand, are in fifth place in the league table at the moment and have been fairly impressive this year.

The away side suffered a damaging 4-1 defeat against Los Angeles FC last week and will need to step up in this fixture.

Real Salt Lake have a slight edge over Seattle Sounders and have won 15 out of the 31 matches played between the two teams, as opposed to the Sounders’ 13 victories.

Real Salt Lake have lost 11 of their last 13 games away at DSG Park and will need to improve their away record against Seattle Sounders.
