Sharpe is widely regarded as one of the greatest tight ends of all time.
Sharpe was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on August 6, 2011. Then he played 12 seasons for the Broncos (1990–1999, 2002–2003) and two with the Ravens (2000–2001), winning three Super Bowls and finishing his career as the NFL’s all-time leader in receptions (815), receiving yards (10,060) and receiving touchdowns (62) by a tight end, until Tony Gonzalez and Jason Witten surpassed all three of those records.
He was the first tight end to amass over 10,000 receiving yards and was named to the first team of the NFL 1990s All-Decade Team.
Cancer
Former NFL tight end Shannon Sharpe revealed Sunday his secret battle with prostate cancer, but offered the good news that he is now in remission.
Sharpe, 54, made the announcement during Fox’s pregame show, saying that early detection may be what saved his life.
The news came as part of the Talk That Talk campaign by Janssen Pharmaceuticals for Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
Sharpe said Janssen didn’t know he was diagnosed with prostate cancer when they approached him to be part of the campaing, but he saw it as the perfect opportunity to share his story.
The Hall of Famer explained that his father and other family members died from cancer, so he felt inclined to get checked early.
Sharpe credits getting checked early for being cancer-free, especially since prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in Black men.
Shannon sharpe wife
After living most of his professional life under a constant spotlight, Shannon has preferred to keep his personal life under the curtains.
Shannon seemed to have finally met the love of his life after being rumored to be engaged with her longtime girlfriend Katy Kellner somewhere during 2016.
With the duo noticed together on several occasions making public appearances, Shannon and his soon-to-be wife, Katy were the talks of the town for quite some time.
In an interview with The Baller Life in 2017, a fitness instructor, Katy, revealed that the duo’s shared love for fitness had contributed to the blossoming of their relationship.
A father of three from his previous relationships, his would-be wife, Katy, complemented Shannon’s children, Kaley, Kayla, and Kiara, significantly. With the easy-go nature of Shannon’s girlfriend, she brought balance to his aggressive and trash-talking personality.
However, it seems time has taken its turns on Shannon and possible wife, Katy, and their relationship.
Shannon sharpe stats
Despite his stellar college career, Sharpe was not considered a highly rated prospect in the 1990 NFL Draft. In addition to playing Division II college football, Sharpe’s size (6’2″, 230 pounds) was considered too large for a receiver and too small for a tight end.

He was eventually selected in the 7th round with the 192nd pick by the Denver Broncos. After two mediocre seasons as a receiver in which he caught just 29 passes, Denver converted him to a tight end. This quickly paid off, as Sharpe caught 53 passes in his third season.
He remained with Denver until 1999, winning two championship rings at Super Bowl XXXII and Super Bowl XXXIII in the process.
After the 1997 season championship – his first – he appeared on General Mills’ Wheaties boxes with four other Broncos.
After a two-year stint with the Baltimore Ravens, where he won another championship ring at Super Bowl XXXV, he returned to the Broncos. He played there until 2003. From there, he retired to become an NFL analyst for CBS.
