Lee was born and raised in Hope Township, Michigan.
She spent time in competitive powerlifting. She graduated from Meridian High School in 2010, and went on to study diagnostic medical sonography at Delta College in Bay City, Michigan.
In June 2015, Lee was one of the thirteen finalists for the sixth season of the WWE competition Tough Enough.

As Triple H uttered the name of Sara Lee during the final minutes of the “WWE Tough Enough” finale, a bar in Sanford erupted with enthusiastic cheers.
The small-town girl from Hope Township was a winner.
Family members and friends of Lee gathered Tuesday, Aug. 25, inside Sanford Lake Bar & Grill to watch their hometown girl win a $250,000 contract with WWE.
“She’s a winner. She’s a winner all the way,” said Carol Newcomb, Lee’s grandmother, just after the finale results were announced. “No matter what she does, she’s a winner.”
“It was just pure excitement,” said family friend Erin Pung, of Midland, about the final results. “I was so happy for her.”
WWE Tough Enough is an American professional wrestling reality competition series that was produced by WWE, wherein participants undergo professional wrestling training and compete for a contract with WWE. There were two winners per season for the first three seasons, all of which aired on MTV.

America Wrestler Sara Lee passed away at the age of 30. Lee was the winner of the 2015 edition of WWE’s “Tough Enough” – a wrestling reality show. The American was also a part of the company’s NXT brand before leaving in 2016.
WWE also released a statement following Lee’s passing. ‘As a former “Tough Enough” winner, Lee served as an inspiration to many in the sports-entertainment world.’ they wrote.
News of Lee’s passing was confirmed by her mother in an emotional Facebook post:
“It is with heavy hearts we wanted to share that our Sara Weston has gone to be with Jesus,” she wrote on Thursday. “We are all in shock and arrangements are not complete, We ask that you respectfully let our family mourn. We all need prayers especially Cory and her children.”
Despite winning Tough Enough in 2015, Lee was released by WWE in 2016. She then married former WWE and NXT wrestler Cory Weston in 2017.
Her cause of death is not publicly known at this time. A GoFundMe page for her funeral expenses has been set up here.
