When the 2022 season ends, and one of the most frustrating experiences of Russell Wilson’s career is behind him, the Broncos quarterback plans to examine everything.

His preparation. His offseason routine to be ready for the season also his in-season routine to be ready for each individual game. What he does. How he does it. What it looks like.

Following last week’s firing of Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett, Wilson told reporters: “I wish I could have played better for him.”

His goal, according to people familiar with his plans, is to do everything in his power to make sure it never happens again.

Quick enough that Pat McAfee looked into it and was ready with a refute less than a day later. On Wednesday’s iteration of his show, McAfee explained the parking situation at the Broncos’ facilities (with some very helpful graphic arrows) before stating that his sources said Wilson does not have multiple parking spots.

Denver Broncos legend Shannon Sharpe is DONE with Russell Wilson, and he ain’t afraid to let the world know.

During a segment on FS1’s Undisputed with everyone’s favorite analyst, Skip Bayless, big Shannon took his second blowtorch in as many months to Wilson in the wake of Nathanial Hackett’s firing.

“I don’t know who the head coach is gonna be, but the first thing you do [is say], ‘Russell Wilson, I’m locking this office. You will no longer have an office. All those parking spaces you get at the stadium, they’re gone too – because you’re putting yourself in front of the team.’

“I said it before, I’ll say it again, and I stand by it: You ticked a lot of people off with your attitude, bro. You can come out here and talk about how we’re a team and I’m good with my teammates, but deep down inside, they’re seething, and I’m gonna leave it at that.”

Wide receivers Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler took to social media Thursday to defend Wilson from some of the latest criticism, this time from former Broncos tight end and current FS1 analyst Shannon Sharpe.

Jeudy tweeted that, “I never had a teammate who motivate me more” than Wilson, while Hamler tweeted that “3 (Wilson’s number) goes above and beyond to do whatever it takes to win for the team.”

Jeudy expounded on his defense of Wilson after Thursday’s practice.

“The media (is) trying to make it seem like something it ain’t, y’all don’t know what’s going on in the locker room,” Jeudy said. “… I’m just tired of reading things about my boy, making it seem like ‘oh he’s not a good teammate’ … unnecessary stuff that’s not true.”

Wilson, who signed a five-year, $225 million contract extension in September, has spent much of the season answering a variety of criticisms about his play, most of which he has simply called “noise.”

General manager George Paton and owner and CEO Greg Penner were asked this week after Hackett was fired if Wilson’s play was a factor in the decision. The team’s trip to London in October had featured some of the most intense rounds of critiques as well.

With each passing loss and each game in which Wilson has looked unsettled and out of sync, discussions about how much Wilson can, and is willing to, repair his game in the coming offseason have become a front-burner issue.

“I just wanted to get it out in the air that he is a good teammate and that he is a hardworking teammate and I just feel like I need to get that out there because there’s a lot of false narratives going around here that I’m getting tired of,” Jeudy said.
