Known as “Kaptain Robbie Knievel,” Robbie Knievel had his own daredevil career with 350 jumps and 20 world records, according to his biography on his official website. Knievel was married once and divorced, his brother said.

From a young age, Knievel wanted to be a daredevil, even though it was difficult personally and professionally to follow in his father’s footsteps, his brother said.

Their father, Evel, was proud of his son’s accomplishments and tried to attend all of his jumps, including Knievel’s 1989 successful one over the Caesars Palace fountains in Las Vegas. In 1967, his father had attempted the same jump and almost died from the injuries he sustained when he crashed his Harley-Davidson.

“Daredevils don’t live easy lives,” his brother said. “But, it’s what they do.”

Kelly Knievel said his brother should be remembered for what he did best.

Treatment for pancreatic cancer depends on the individual and how advanced the disease is but chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery are typical options.

Unfortunately, the disease can be difficult to detect in its early stages as its symptoms — no appetite, dark-colored urine, light-colored stools, jaundice, and pain in the abdomen that extends to the back — usually don’t show up until later.

According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, an estimated 80% of pancreatic cancer cases go undetected until the cancer is in its advanced stages, which unfortunately makes treatment more challenging.

The family did not disclose how long Robbie has been battling pancreatic cancer, and many fans were unaware of his health condition. At this time, funeral arrangements and plans for public memorials have not been shared by the family.

But Like father, like son. Robbie not only followed in his father Evel Knievel’s footsteps, but he also made history while doing so.

Also Robbie appeared to be destined to follow the daredevil stuntman track as he performed for the first time at Evel’s Madison Square Garden show at 8 years old.

Most notably, Robbie bested his father by successfully jumping the fountains at Caesars Palace in 1989.

By age eight Robbie started performing; his first show was at Madison Square Garden in New York. Also At age 12 he went on tour with his dad.

One of Robbie’s most publicized stunts came in 2009 when he jumped over the man-made volcano in front of the Mirage Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip.

He is survived by his two daughters, Krysten and Karmen. He also has a granddaughter and grandson, Analise and Kane.

His dad Evel – who was a massive star in the 1970s and 1980s – died of pulmonary disease in Clearwater, Florida, in 2007, aged 69.

To best honor his brother’s memory, Kelly Knievel told CBS News that he hopes the public will remember Robbie Knievel for his illustrious career and passion for what he did. “He was a great daredevil,” he explained. “If you look at his jumps, that’s what he should be known for. It’s what he loved doing.”
