Having played all formats for India, he is best known for his consistency to score runs in Test cricket.
Pant plays for Delhi in domestic cricket and captains Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League.
He was the vice-captain of the India U-19 team for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

India’s star cricketer Rishabh Pant suffered multiple injuries when his car collided with a road divider on the Delhi-Dehradun highway, early on Friday.
The 25-year-old, who was going to his home in Roorkee, was taken to a local hospital. He suffered injuries on his head, back and feet but is in a stable condition.
“Pant met with an accident in Manglaur in Haridwar district when his car hit a divider at 5.30 am on Friday,” Haridwar SSP Ajai Singh said.
“He was rushed to Saksham hospital in nearby Rookee from where he was referred later to Max Hospital, Dehradun,” he added.
The accident happened at Mohammadpur Jat in Manglaur.
Police said the wicketkeeper-batsman, who was alone in the car when it crashed had lost control of the vehicle when he “dozed off”. The car flipped over twice, police added.
Uttarakhand Director General of Police Ashok Kumar told Reuters: “Pant had told the local police that he lost control on his car after he dozed off for a couple of seconds. The police is investigating the case.”
What happened to
Team India cricketer Rishabh Pant escaped a major scare when his luxury car met a serious accident near Roorkee on the Delhi-Dehradun highway on Friday morning.
The explosive wicket keeper batsman was severely injured in the crash which also set the car ablaze.
Pant managed to escape the fire and get out of the car in time. He was hospitalised after the accident and is now being treated in Dehradun. Pant’s condition is not serious.
Pant had returned from Dubai the prior night and soon set off to meet his relatives, reportedly his mother, in Roorkee on Thursday night. The accident took place between Manglaur and Narsan in Haridwar district.
The car caught fire. A CCTV video also emerged of the major accident. Pant was alone in the car. Pant reportedly fell asleep on the wheel of his luxury car, which collided into a divider, police said.
Pant was reportedly stuck inside the car which caught fire. He had to break the windshield and escape.
He reportedly used his knee to break the windshield, which was already injured. Sources have been quoted as saying that if Pant had been a little late in escaping, the car may have erupted in flames. He was reportedly just 10 minutes or so from his home.
Pant was then rushed to Saksham Hospital, Roorkee Civil Hospital for primary care. He was then shifted to Max Dehradun.
Pant might be shifted to Delhi in a day or two if needed, Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) officials said.
Rishabh Pant was born in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India to Rajendra Pant and Saroj Pant and is currently 25 years old.
