The 2022–23 NBA season is the upcoming 77th season of the National Basketball Association (NBA), here’s NBA season start date and playoffs.
NBA season 2023 : start date, tickets, playoffs
The NBA and NBPA announced a pension plan for former ABA players who played at least three seasons in the league.
The Board of Governors approved the permanent adoption of the NBA Play-In Tournament that had been in place for the previous two seasons. Previously, the Board approved the tournament on a season-by-season basis.
The league instituted a new penalty for the “take foul”. The offensive team will be allotted one free throw and retain possession with this penalty in place. The defensive player who commits the foul will be assessed one common personal foul.
Previously, the penalty was a common personal foul on the offending player in addition to a side out for the offensive team if they were not in the bonus.

Tickets
Before the Finals tipped off, tickets were going for record prices.
Game 1 tickets were going for an average price of $873 on Vivid Seats a day before the series started, making it the most expensive event at Chase Center since the venue opened in 2019 (h/t ESPN’s Tom VanHaaren).
Game 1 was the most expensive game of the NBA season for all of three days. Tickets for Sunday’s Game 2 were starting at $820 after fees on TicketMaster as of Friday (h/t SF Gate’s Andrew Koopman).
With the Finals returning to Boston for the first time in 12 years, it’s no surprise that TD Garden ticket prices are just as insane. The cheapest tickets for Game 3, the first game in Boston on Wednesday, start at $662 before fees.
Friday’s Game 4 takes things to another level. There are only a handful of tickets that are listed below four figures – again, before fees – starting at $955 on Vivid Seats.
Should the series reach a decisive Game 7, the starting price for a spot inside Chase Center has already exceeded $1,100.
The most expensive seats for Game 3 in Boston are in section VIP2, Row A, which is right behind the visitor bench. Those tickets are listed for $22,044 a pop before fees – almost as much as the fine the Miami Heat received for violating NBA rules from that very bench in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals.
NBA season 2023 playoffs
The playoffs are then scheduled to begin in April 15, 2023 and ending with the NBA Finals in June 2023.
LeBron James has not missed the playoffs in back-to-back years since his rookie and sophomore seasons in the NBA.
The Los Angeles Lakers have a ton of issues, with one being the massive contract that they have for Russell Westbrook.
The Cleveland Cavaliers were one of the biggest surprise teams in the NBA this season. The Cavs were in and around the top four of the Eastern Conference for much of the season, before injuries drop them down to the play-in tournament.
Cleveland is a prime candidate to take another leap and make the playoffs in 2023.
