This Saturday marks the 15th anniversary of the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon.
The marathon ranks among the 15 largest marathons in the nation. It goes through the downtown area and then through some of the city’s most iconic neighborhoods.
It is also traditionally a fast course and many runners use it to qualify for other races, such as the Boston Marathon.
The opening ceremony kicks off at 7:30 a.m. and the course will stay open until 3 p.m. for contestants to finish the course.

The CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon course starts and ends near the Indiana State House.
The fast and flat 26.2 mile course winds through downtown Indianapolis and a number of historical neighborhoods and Cultural Districts.
The start line is set on Capitol Avenue north of Washington Street in downtown Indianapolis. The course weaves itself in and around Indianapolis, including by Lucas Oil Stadium, Monument Circle, Butler University and the Indiana War Memorial.

15,000 runners are signed up to race in this year’s Monumental Marathon on Saturday, Nov. 5.
The race is bringing visitors from all 50 states and 12 countries to Downtown Indianapolis.
The Red Line station at Park will experience limited service, operating in two segments, one north of 38th Street and one south of 38th Street.
Passengers continuing south of 38th Street should exit at the temporary stop at 38th and College Avenue and walk one block west to the Park Station.
Passengers continuing north of 38th Street should exit Park Station and walk one block east to 38th and College.

The CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon returns Saturday.
The race takes participants through the heart of downtown, past city landmarks, and through historic neighborhoods.
Road restrictions are scheduled at various times beginning at 8 a.m. Organizers say some of the closures could last through 5 p.m., but various streets will reopen as the race progresses.
Race weekend will kick off on November 3 and 4 with the Monumental Health and Fitness Expo at the Indiana Convention Center (Hall J), featuring packet pickup, official Brooks merchandise and more than forty health and wellness vendors.
In addition to the more than 15,000 participants converging in Indianapolis, the event will attract more than 50,000 visitors to the Circle City for race weekend festivities.

The annual event attracts Olympic Trials qualifiers, Boston Marathon qualifiers, and personal PR seekers.
Regularly ranked as a top Boston Marathon qualifying event, over 27% of the field met their Boston qualifying standard in 2021, resulting in the 5th most qualifiers of any marathon in the U.S.
