Despite his strong preseason, he was named the backup to Mike Glennon for the 2017 regular season.

Draft class

We saw a tremendous April push of quarterbacks up the draft board a year ago, which saw a second consecutive season of quarterbacks going first and second overall in the draft.

ESPN and Pro Football Focus ranked Trubisky the second best quarterback, NFLDraftScout.com ranked him as the top quarterback in the draft, and Sports Illustrated ranked him the fourth best quarterback available.

While Jared Goff and Carson Wentz followed in the footsteps of Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota in the previous season, we will not see it happen for a third year in a row.

There has been plenty of negative publicity about this season’s quarterback class, but it’s deeper than the 2015 class that produced Winston and Mariota.

Deshaun Watson has given the ball away too frequently over the last three years, but good luck getting his back-to-back performances against Alabama defenses out of your head.

Mitchell Trubisky doesn’t have much experience, but there are several boxes he is going to check from a physical standpoint.

Patrick Mahomes and Deshone Kizer would have likely been first-round locks in the 2018 draft had they stayed in school, but they still have the traits and talent to get early round consideration this year. Oh, and Pittsburgh’s Nathan Peterman might be the Kirk Cousins of this year’s draft. It’s not a great class, but it has potential.

Mitch Trubisky tweet

Bills quarterback Mitch Trubisky couldn’t help but laugh when asked about his infamous 2011 tweet – which read “I love kissing t–ties” – during an interview with Barstool Sports.

And, as it turns out, Trubisky wasn’t the one who sent out the tweet.

“One of my buddies [tweeted that],” Trubisky told the hosts of Pardon My Take podcast. “He’s in the [Chicago] White Sox organization right now and we were in a basketball tournament… the Arby’s Classic,” in Tennessee, he said without naming the player.

“You’re in the hotel room with your buddies and you’re just messing around on each other’s phones or what not, and eight years later I find out that somebody tweeted it.

“There’s worse ones out there, so.”

Trubisky, who raised eyebrows when the tweet resurfaced on his draft night in 2017, admitted he “actually gained a lot of fans from that, so it was positive in a way.”

He went on to joke, “Someone was just waiting on that one like, ‘If this guy gets drafted, it’s gonna be a good one.’”

Trubisky was 17 years old when the tweet was sent on Dec. 27, 2011. He wouldn’t get drafted until 2017, when the Bears selected him with the second overall pick. In the offseason, he signed a one-year deal with the Bills.

Trubisky explained the viral tweet after he impressed in Buffalo’s win over his former Bears on Saturday. He led four straight touchdown drives, while completing 20-of-28 passes for 220 yards and a touchdown in the first half.
