At Oakland Tech, Lynch was a four-sport star for the Bulldogs football, basketball, track, and wrestling.
In his 2003 season, Lynch amassed 1,722 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns in only eight regular season games and an additional 375 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns in two postseason games.
He was voted a PrepStar and SuperPrep All-American and was also voted the San Francisco East Bay Player of the Year.
In basketball, he played on the Oakland Tech’s team alongside future Cal star Leon Powe. Lynch helped lead his team to the state semi-finals.

Former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch was asleep during a traffic stop, smelled of alcohol and told police he had stolen the car he was sitting in when Las Vegas police arrested him Tuesday, according to the arrest report for the case.
The report, which was obtained by USA TODAY Sports, states that Las Vegas Metro Police came up to a car at 7:25 a.m.
Tuesday at Fairfield Avenue and West Utah Avenue, which is just north of the Las Vegas Strip. Officers noticed that the car, a Shelby GT500 Coupe sports car, was in “undriveable condition.”
Per the report, the driver’s side front wheel and rim were completely gone and the front passenger rim and tire almost off.
Officers followed marks on the road that showed the car had hit the sidewalk near to where the car was found, with a tire located there.

Lynch, who was arrested for DUI on Tuesday in Las Vegas, is said to have smelled of alcohol and fell asleep “several times” during questioning, according to new police documents obtained Thursday by TMZ Sports.
The 36-year-old Super Bowl champ was said to be found asleep at the wheel, per the documents, with a tire on the 2020 Shelby GT500 missing.
Authorities also noted in the report that when they attempted to converse with Lynch, he would speak and “fall back asleep several times” during the interaction.
The former Seattle Seahawk, who apparently had one shoe on at the time, also stated “that he was not drinking and he does not do drugs, but that he stole the vehicle,” according to the cops. The stench of an “alcoholic beverage” allegedly came from the car as well.
The police also claimed in their report that “Lynch was not cooperative or willing to comply with the Search Warrant and corrections officers from the City of Las Vegas had to use a restraint chair to force a blood draw.”
Lynch is reportedly facing charges of failure/refusing to surrender proof of security, unregistered vehicle, and failure to drive in a travel lane.
