Neuer started his career at Schalke 04 where he won the DFB-Pokal and DFL-Ligapokal. In 2011, he signed for Bayern Munich and has since won 28 trophies, including ten Bundesliga titles and two UEFA Champions League titles in 2013 and 2020, both as part of trebles.

In 2014, Neuer finished third in the voting for the FIFA Ballon d’Or award behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

He was awarded the UEFA Goalkeeper of the Year and the IFFHS World’s Best Goalkeeper five times each.

Neuer was selected as Germany’s number one goalkeeper for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. During the group stages, he only conceded a single goal.

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has revealed that he has been diagnosed with skin cancer on his face, for which he has undergone three operations.

The Germany international has opened up on his recent medical issues after launching a new skincare product with tennis star Angelique Kerber.

“We both have a very personal history when it comes to skin diseases. Angelique has sun-induced hyperpigmentation and in my case skin cancer on my face, which I’ve had to operate on three times,” he said in a press release.

“That’s why we have paid particular attention to ensuring that we no longer make any compromises when it comes to sun protection: Because I train outside all the time and also like to spend my free time in nature.”

Germany fans feared the national team No.1 could be a doubt for the World Cup in Qatar, which kicks off later this month, but Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann has confirmed he could feature against Hertha Berlin on Saturday.

Neuer is set to make a comeback for Bayern after being ruled out of action with a shoulder injury since their draw with Dortmund in the Bundesliga at the start of October.

Manuel Neuer revealed Wednesday that he was previously treated for skin cancer and had to undergo surgery.

The news have come as a shock to football fans all around the globe as no one had the slightest guess that the one of the best keepers in the business, had to go through such a tough phase keeping it recluse at the same time.

Recently, the 36-year old has invested in a skincare product in collaboration with multiple-time Grand Slam Tennis star Angelique Kerber.

”We both have a history of skin diseases. In my case, skin cancer on my face, which required three surgeries. When it comes to sunscreen, we have therefore paid attention to maximum protection”, Neuer said.

“Since we train outside all the time and also like to spend our free time in nature, it is essential for us to start with modern sun protection filters and a sun protection factor of 50+. So we know for sure that we have a sunscreen that protects us continuously and with which hardly anything can burn”, the Bayern Munich goalee further added.

What happened to 

Manuel Neuer is suffering from skin cancer and undergone three surgeries till now.

The 36-year-old took to Instagram on Wednesday to share that he has been suffering from the disease and to launch a new unisex skincare line along with German tennis star Angelique Kerber.

German news outlet Bild report that speculation about Neuer’s condition began in December 2021, when he was seen wearing a plaster on his face for Bayern’s Champions League fixture against Barcelona.

Neuer now has a facial scar following three separate surgeries, while Kerber – a three-time Grand Slam winner – has suffered from sun-induced hyperpigmentation of the skin caused by exposure to the sun.

Speaking in a video on Instagram, Neuer said: “We both have a history of skin diseases. In my case, skin cancer on my face, which required three surgeries. When it comes to sunscreen, we have therefore paid attention to maximum protection.

“Since we train outside all the time and also like to spend our free time in nature, it is essential for us to start with modern sun protection filters and a sun protection factor of 50+.

“So we know for sure that we have a sunscreen that protects us continuously and with which hardly anything can burn.”

Neuer, who contracted coronavirus during the September international break, has been sidelined since the beginning of October with a shoulder injury and has missed Bayern’s last seven matches across all competitions.

The veteran goalkeeper is now facing a race against time to fit in time for the 2022 World Cup, but Bayern head coach Julian Nagelsmann is hopeful that he will return to first-team action for Saturday’s Bundesliga clash away at Hertha Berlin.
