The 2022 Laver Cup will be the fifth edition of the Laver Cup, a men’s tennis tournament between teams from Europe and the rest of the world.

On 3 February 2022, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer were the first players to confirm their participation for Team Europe.
On 17 June 2022, Félix Auger-Aliassime, Taylor Fritz and Diego Schwartzman were the first players confirmed for Team World.

On 29 June 2022, Andy Murray announced he would make his Laver Cup debut for Team Europe.
Novak Djokovic was announced as the fourth player for Team Europe on 22 July 2022.
On 2 August 2022, organizers announced that Jack Sock would join Team World.
On 10 August 2022, Team Europe announced its final line-up with Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud also taking part.
Team World captain John McEnroe chose John Isner and Alex de Minaur as his final picks on 25 August 2022, however, Isner withdrew due to injury. As a result, he was replaced by Frances Tiafoe.
Laver Cup 2022 dates
Laver Cup 2022 will be held on indoor hard courts at The O2 Arena in London, United Kingdom from 23 until 25 September.
Usually held annually since 2017, the tournament is intended to be the Ryder Cup of the tennis world.

It normally takes place two weeks after the US Open, with the location rotating between various different host cities (that usually do not have an ATP Tour event); alternating yearly between European cities and cities in the rest of the world.
(Coincidentally, the 2021 Laver Cup and 2021 Ryder Cup were both held on the same late September weekend of 2021.)
In addition to the guaranteed participation fees which are based upon the players’ ATP rankings, each member of the winning team gets $250,000 in prize money, but the tournament itself does not count towards the players’ point totals in the ATP Tour for that year.
In May 2019, the Laver Cup became an officially sanctioned ATP Tour event.
Schedule
The Laver Cup 2022 will take place from September 23-25 with four matches on each day.
There will be two matches in the afternoon and two at night.
On Friday, September 23 the tournament will get underway at 13:00 UK time, which is also the case on Saturday, September 24. Both days will see the night session start at 19:00 UK time.
On the final day of the event on Sunday, September 25 the action will begin one hour earlier at 12:00pm UK time.
The matches will continue throughout the final day until there is a winner when one team reaches the 13 points required to be crowned the champions.
Laver Cup 2022 Federer
Tennis great Roger Federer on Thursday, September 15 announced his retirement from professional tennis. The 20-time Grand Slam champion will hang up his boots after the Laver Cup in London this year.

Federer, 41, confirmed that he would continue to be associated with tennis but the Laver Cup, starting September 23 will be his final tournament on the tour.
Federer had not ruled out a comeback despite not having played on the tour since his quarter-final appearance at Wimbledon in 2021. However, the Swiss great said his body, which has battled with persistent knee injury concerns in the recent past, has sent him a clear message.
Federer attended the Wimbledon Centre Court’s centenary event earlier this year wherein he said he hoped to play in London at least one more time.
Federer was also expected to make his professional comeback at his home tournament in Basel. However, after having had 3 knee surgeries in the last 2 years, Federer has taken the “bittersweet” call.
