Walker joined boyhood club Sheffield United, at the age of seven after being recommended by coach Paul Archer at Football Unites, Racism Divides and progressed through the ranks to become a regular fixture in the reserves by 2008.
His one-month loan was later extended into January, before he eventually returned to Bramall Lane having played nine matches for the Cobblers.
Soon after returning to his parent club, Walker made his full debut for Sheffield United on 13 January 2009, starting in a third round FA Cup tie against Leyton Orient.

Police have launched an investigation after a newspaper alleged England and Manchester City footballer Kyle Walker indecently exposed himself in a bar.
Following a report in the Sun, Cheshire Police said it was “aware of a video circulating on social media” of an alleged incident in Wilmslow on Sunday.
Cheshire Police said “enquiries are in the early stages and no arrests have been made at this time”.
The PA news agency said it understood Walker was contesting the allegations and that he reported for training as normal. Also the Sun released security camera footage from the bar.
Mr Walker, 32, has played for Manchester City since July 2017, when he joined from Tottenham in a £45m transfer.

Manchester City defender and England international Kyle Walker could face a police investigation after a video was leaked of him pulling down his trousers in public and kissing a young woman who is not his wife in a Manchester bar.
The Sun reports that the incident involving Walker took place during a Sunday night of partying and drinking with a group of friends, two of which are female.
The Sun newspaper has published the explicit video captured by security cameras in which Walker can be seen pulling down his trousers to expose himself to the rest of the customers and clients of the premises.
Britain’s Sexual Offences Act 2003 says indecent exposure is when a person intentionally exposes their genitals and intends them to be seen, which could cause alarm or distress.
Teresa Parker of Women’s Aid explains in The Sun that “whether for shock, laughter or intimidation, for people affected by indecent exposure there can be long-term effects, discomfort and trauma. Because It can give the person being exposed a sense of power in the situation. Also if there are no repercussions, it can possibly give them the confidence to see what they can do next time”.
Cheshire Police have confirmed officers are investigating Walker over the footage in relation to an alleged indecent exposure.

Also The Sun reports that she is ‘furious’ with Walker, who has been branded a “d***”, and is worried about the potential repercussions for her family.
“She’s terrified of a police investigation and if that happened she would surely feel like she had to chuck him out. Also At the moment that hasn’t happened,” a source told the newspaper. Also “She’s worried about what others will be saying and thinking about her, and is mortified for their kids.”
The couple, who were childhood sweethearts and got married in November 2021, have three sons together, Roman, Riaan and Reign. They first met when Waker was 19 years old and Kilner was 16 and were together for over nine years before splitting in May 2019.
