That potential game-winning kick may have missed, and the Titans may have lost a heartbreaker, but it’s telling that a veteran quarterback in Ryan Tannehill not only targeted Phillips more than any other receiver Sunday, but also went to him when he needed a big completion with the game on the line.

Burks may be a future star, but Phillips appears to be a huge steal.

The Tennessee Titans stole headlines on draft day when they traded away star wide receiver A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles in a deal that netted them a first-round pick.

They used that pick on a replacement for Brown, Arkansas wide receiver Treylon Burks, who has a similar skill set to the former second-round pick out of Mississippi.

Kyle Phillips Fantasy

Phillips was listed as questionable after being limited in practice on Thursday and Friday but is good to go against the Bills.

Phillips is the Titans leading receiver after one week of play, pacing the team in targets, receptions, and receiving yards.

He showed a special connection with Ryan Tannehill this offseason, and it appears to have carried over to the regular season.

Phillips is not going away anytime soon and is a worthy flex option when healthy, especially in PPR leagues.

Injury

Tennessee Titans rookie wide receiver Kyle Phillips landed himself on the Titans’ injury report Thursday after missing practice with a shoulder injury.

Phillips caught six passes for 66 yards during his NFL debut against the Giants, none bigger than the 21 yard reception he made to put the Titans in field-goal range with time running out.

A newly released video shows that Phillips’ shoulder injury occurred just moments after his big catch Sunday evening.

It’s still unclear how severe Phillips injury is and if he will be available for the Titans on Monday night in Buffalo.

Either way, it’s bad news to have your most targeted week one weapon banged up this early into the season.

Dynasty

Philips entered the 2022 NFL Draft as an unheralded slot receiver out of UCLA with limited range and athleticism.

Due to this, he slipped down draft boards until the draft’s final day. After arriving in Tennessee for training camp, it did not take long for the team to realize that they might have discovered a diamond in the rough.

Philips quickly flashed his elite route-running ability in training camp and preseason. He made several veteran cornerbacks look foolish as he flaunted his elite lateral footwork on an array of routes.

After impressing all offseason and preseason, all eyes were on the mysterious rookie heading into the 2022 regular season.

As of Week 1 of the 2022 NFL season approached, there were many uncertainties surrounding Tennessee’s offense. The team primarily runs through Derrick Henry, but there were several question marks outside him.

In the first game of his professional career, there were many positive developments to build on for Philips. He was on the field for 46% of snaps and managed to lead the team in targets. He caught six-of-his-nine targets for 66 yards and looked impressive doing it.

Although the team took a heartbreaking opening day loss to the New York Giants, Ryan Tannehill turned to the rookie wide receiver when he needed him most.
