Trade
The situation surrounding Giants receiver Kenny Golladay could come to a head soon.
The highly paid pass catcher is expected to be active for tonight’s game against the Cowboys, hoping for more productivity than he has provided during the first two weeks and another chance to show New York’s new coaching staff that he can get it done.
If it doesn’t happen against Dallas, and if the storyline regarding his playing time loudly continues, there are options.
Among them: The Giants could trade Golladay to an interested party, and likely the only way it would work is if New York pays the bulk of his contract in exchange for a late-round pick, sources say. That is a possibility.
Through today’s game, sources say Golladay has been great inside the building. He does all the right things and has been a positive influence in the locker room. When he’s spoken, he’s been honest but not bombastic.
Golladay played just two snaps last week, while fourth-year receiver David Sills played 67. In the view of the coaches and those making decisions, Sills is more deserving of playing time, as he gains more separation in his routes than Golladay.
“I should be playing regardless, that’s a fact,” Golladay told reporters flatly this week.

He made his professional regular season debut in the Detroit Lions’ season-opener against the Arizona Cardinals and made four receptions for 69 yards and two touchdowns in the Lions’ 35–23 victory.
His first career touchdown came on a 10-yard pass from Matthew Stafford in the fourth quarter and he also caught a 45-yard reception to seal the game. Golladay missed five games (Weeks 3–9) after suffering a strained hamstring.
On December 3, 2017, Golladay earned his first career start and caught two passes for 44 yards in the Lions’ 44–20 loss at the Baltimore Ravens.
Golladay was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list by the Lions on July 29, 2020, and was activated a week later.
Golladay missed the first two games due to a hamstring injury. He made his return in Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals.
On March 20, 2021, Golladay signed a four-year, $72 million contract with the New York Giants.
Golladay finished his first season with the Giants totaling 37 receptions for 521 yards and no touchdowns in 14 games played.
Kenny Golladay Fantasy
Kenny Golladay Fantasy could see a ‘slightly increased’ role Monday night against the Cowboys.
Golladay was on the field for just two snaps in Week 2 against the Panthers. He was quite upset in the locker room after the game about his lack of playing time despite the Giants winning the game. He remains well off the fantasy radar.
Golladay’s current ADP is 139th overall and the 57th wide receiver selected in fantasy drafts. This means he’s being taken in the 11th round of standard leagues. Other players drafted in his range include Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Jarvis Landry.
Now two years removed from the end of a dominant two-year stint with the Detroit Lions from 2018-2019, where he averaged 67.5 receptions, 1,126 yards, and eight touchdowns, it’s fair to wonder what exactly Golladay has left in the tank.
Despite little interest in free agency, the Giants offered him a $72 million deal that can’t be reasonably terminated until after June 1 next year.
Kenny Golladay Fantasy also seems to struggle running since suffering a hip sprain prior to free agency. His overall injury history has become extremely concerning as he’s tallied several injuries each season since 2020. Now, he’s basically a lottery ticket for fantasy managers.
Injury
New York Giants wide receiver Kenny Golladay may only miss the upcoming game against the Los Angeles Rams.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Golladay should be sidelined for “just a week or two” thanks to the knee injury he suffered during Sunday’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
Rapoport noted the injury designation represents a “major sigh of relief” since “the initial fear was that it was major.”
Any injury to the wide receiver was bound to cause concern in New York since he played just five games last year for the Detroit Lions thanks in large part to a hip injury.
The Giants signed Golladay this offseason, and he has responded with 17 catches for 282 yards and zero touchdowns through five games. It is a far cry from his Pro Bowl campaign in 2019 when he finished with 65 catches for 1,190 yards and a league-best 11 touchdowns.
Golladay’s setback was far from the only one for the Giants on Sunday.
Quarterback Daniel Jones and running back Saquon Barkley were each carted off the field at different times. New York was also without wide receivers Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton because of hamstring injuries.
That didn’t leave a lot of playmakers remaining in the aerial attack, although rookie Kadarius Toney took full advantage of the depleted depth chart with 10 catches for 189 yards.
He flashed the potential that convinced the Giants to select him with the No. 20 overall pick of the 2021 NFL draft.
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Toney lead the team in targets during the game against the Rams with Golladay sidelined.
