Vs Casper Ruud

2022 French Open finalist Casper Ruud will square off against World No. 31 Karen Khachanov in the semifinals of the 2022 US Open on Friday.

Fans were promised a big-serving spectacle when the 6ft 6in Khachanov and the ever-powerful Kyrgios took to the court for their quarter-final battle, and with a total of 61 aces between them, the pair did not disappoint.

Thirty of those aces belonged to Khachanov, who was battling both the Wimbledon runner-up and the majority of the crowd on the Australian’s side, but the 26-year-old focused on his game to prevail 7-5 4-6 7-5 6-7 6-4 – sealing it with a brilliant serve down the T that Kyrgios could not make strong contact on.

His opponent’s racquet-smashing outburst after the match unsurprisingly made all the headlines, but Khachanov now has a first-ever Grand Slam semi-final to look forward to, and it has been a far from straightforward path for the Russian to get there.

Indeed, Khachanov has dropped at least one set in all of his five matches at Flushing Meadows so far this year, including against Jack Draper – who retired injured – but a top-10 place in the rankings could be his if he manages to get his hands on the trophy.

Showing true grit and determination in the face of adversity during all of his encounters so far, Khachanov demonstrated a far greater proficiency from second serves to Kyrgios – winning 64% compared to 47% for the Australian – but Ruud has already seen off one of the game’s big servers.

Karen Khachanov Prediction

This pairing happened only once two years ago, on that occasion, Karen and Casper met in the first round of the singles in Rome.

It was a pretty even match, in fact, after each won a set, a third set had to be played to define the winner, which on that occasion was the Russian.

The Norwegian tennis player is favourite to advance to the final, we expect him to fulfill the predictions as he has been more solid in each of his matches.

Karen Khachanov : vs Casper Ruud | Prediction

On the other hand, Khachanov has struggled to reach this stage, even in the early rounds he had problems getting through, in fact, he has not won any of his matches in straight sets.

Of all the matches Ruud could have had, we think this is one of the most accessible he could have had.

The 26-year-old Khachanov avenged his compatriot Medvedev, who had been eliminated in the previous round at the hands of Kyrgios.

After that victory of the Australian, the forecasts and possibilities were against Khachanov, even so, the Russian was not intimidated by it and took his best version to face Kyrgios.

From the beginning it was noticeable the intensity of each player, which led to the limit in each of the sets, in fact, there were at least 10 games in each set. After a total of 57 games, Karen Kachanov made it through to the semi-finals.

Although the Italian looked favourite in this duel, he could do little against the great game of Ruud.
