The Tigers selected Verlander with the second overall pick of the 2004 MLB draft. He made his major league debut with the Tigers in 2005 playing there for 12 years as the ace in their starting rotation, as a key figure in four consecutive American League (AL) Central division championships (2011–2014) and two AL pennants (in 2006 and 2012).
He is among the career pitching leaders for the Tigers, including ranking second in strikeouts (2,373), seventh in wins (183), and eighth in innings pitched (2,511).
The Tigers traded Verlander to the Astros before the 2017 trade deadline, and he went undefeated in his first five starts heading into the postseason.
He was named ALCS MVP, and was co-winner of the Babe Ruth Award as the Astros won the 2017 World Series.
In 2018, Verlander became the 114th pitcher in major league history to earn 200 career wins, also becoming the 20th-fastest to reach the milestone (427 starts).
Justin Verlander where does live now
Justin Verlander currently lives in Virginia, US.
Five months before they listed their longtime California pad, Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander and his supermodel wife Kate Upton purchased a Florida home $550,000 above its ask — for $6.55 million.
In May, the pair sold their Beverly Hills home they bought in 2016 for $5.25 million to actor Timothée Chalamet — for $11 million.
Their new pad, located in Jupiter, is about 1,000 square feet smaller, spanning some 4,600 square feet and is nestled along the waters of the Loxahatchee River.
Custom-built in 2015, the home sits on 1.25 acres of land and features panoramic water views.
Perks include hurricane-rated impact windows and doors.
The primary suite is located on the first floor and comes with a spa-inspired bathroom with an oversize frameless glass shower, a free-standing tub and granite vanity tops.
Each guest suite comes with with a walk-in closet and ensuite baths.
Outdoor features include a summer kitchen, a grand covered patio with motorized phantom screens, and a heated pool and spa with fiber optic lighting, the previous listing notes. It also comes with a putting green, two jet skit lifts and a boat lift.
“This is Jupiter waterfront living… Perfected,” the listing said.
Bradley Ball with Frankel Ball Realty held the listing.
Rehab
Verlander knows the fans have noticed, because just about anything he posts on social media gets littered with replies from Astros fans asking where he’s been. Also on Thursday, Verlander answered those questions.
When Twitter user @RooshWilliams – who is a great follow for Houston sports, but especially for Rockets info – replied to Verlander respectfully and said that the city would love to see him at a World Series game or see him tweeting about the team, Verlander responded.
“I would love to be there!,” Verlander replied. “But I have rehab every damn day. I would have to monopolize the trainers for hours, the bullpen coach and catcher an hour, and strength coaches for an hour each day. I’m sure they don’t have to help any players who are ACTUALLY PLAYING.”
As for the lack of tweeting about his teammates during the season, Verlander has taken the approach of a lot of other Astros: The less you post on social media, the less the anti-Astros trolls will come after you.
“As for tweeting … I find myself wanting to say something all the time. But it sucks when people just want to talk shit. Also Not worth it … easier for me to just cheer them on without tweeting.”
Verlander has been excellent as an Astro ever since he was traded from Detroit to Houston in August 2017.
