Things have gone from bad to worse for Buffalo Bills fans. After a shock loss to division rival Jets, reports now suggest that franchise QB Josh Allen is being evaluated for an elbow injury to his ulnar collateral ligament.

The news was first reported by NFL insider Chris Mortensen, who added that Bills HC Sean McDermott said the team hopes to have more information on the seriousness of the issue by Tuesday.

Allen is believed to have picked up the injury while attempting a last-minute comeback against the Jets. During the play, the QB dropped back to pass and came under pressure by while throwing the ball.

After Jets edge rusher Bryce Huff proceeded to strip-sack Allen, the Bills player could be seen shaking and flexing his arm while playing with some discomfort.

The severity of Allen’s elbow injury is currently unknown. But if there is indeed damage to the QB’s UCL, then the team’s physios and coaches might have to take a tough call.

Bills coach Sean McDermott said earlier Monday that doctors still are evaluating quarterback Josh Allen’s injured throwing elbow.

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that Allen’s elbow injury is to his ulnar collateral ligament and related nerves.

Allen’s status for Sunday’s game is uncertain, but he likely won’t have full practices this week.

The injury did not affect Allen’s arm strength Sunday.

His final pass, an incompletion to wide receiver Gabe Davis, was the farthest pass thrown in the NFL the past six seasons.

The NFL has a microchip in every football for tracking through its Next Gen Stats, and those stats showed that the pass Allen threw to Davis traveled 69.3 yards in the air.

Recovery time 

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is being evaluated for a right elbow injury to the ulnar collateral ligament and related nerves, a source told.

Also his status is uncertain for the team’s game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

“We’re just going through it, still evaluating it, and we’ll see where it goes,” coach Sean McDermott said Monday. “I’ll know more in the next 24 hours and then probably be able to check in with [the media] back on Wednesday.”

Allen suffered the injury during the last drive of the team’s 20-17 loss to the New York Jets. Jets defensive lineman Bryce Huff got past backup right tackle David Quessenberry, in for injured tackle Spencer Brown, and hit Allen’s throwing arm, which resulted in a strip sack recovered by Buffalo.

The quarterback threw a low pass that looked off target to wide receiver Stefon Diggs on the following play and then was seen holding his right elbow and trying to shake out the arm.

Also “There’s some slight pain,” Allen said after the game. “But we’ll get through it.”

But it takes longer for Josh Allen to recover from ucl injury.
