The Eagles traded the former first-round wide receiver to the Minnesota Vikings on Wednesday for a 2023 seventh-round pick and a conditional 2024 fourth-round pick, the team announced Wednesday.

The trade ends a disappointing tenure in Philadelphia for Reagor, who posted 695 total receiving yards in two years after the team drafted him 21st overall out of TCU in the 2020 NFL draft.

The Eagles drafted Reagor hoping they were getting a field-stretching big-play threat, but he never really developed into even a starting-quality wide receiver.

Trade

The Philadelphia Eagles are trading wide receiver Jalen Reagor to the Minnesota Vikings, according to CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones. ESPN is reporting that Philadelphia will receive a 2023 seventh-round pick and a 2024 conditional fourth-round pick in exchange for the receiver.

The conditional draft choice would become a fifth-round pick if Reagor does not meet statistical thresholds agreed upon by the two teams.

Reagor, the No. 21 overall selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, has recorded 64 receptions for 695 yards and three touchdowns over a two-year period. He has an additional 61 touches on the ground and in the return game.

Eagles

Reagor was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round with the 21st overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, becoming the highest-drafted wide receiver to come from TCU since former All-American Josh Doctson in 2016.

On July 20, 2020, Reagor signed a 4-year $13.3 million contract with the team, with a fifth-year team option.

Reagor sustained a shoulder injury in training camp but recovered enough to play in Week 1.

On September 13, 2020, Reagor made his NFL debut against the Washington Football Team, finishing with one reception for 55 yards in the 17–27 loss.

He was placed on injured reserve on September 30, 2020, after suffering a ligament tear in his thumb.

Draft

The Birds are trading their highly disappointing first-round pick from the 2020 NFL Draft to … the Minnesota Vikings, of all teams! The club that greatly benefited from the Eagles taking Reagor so they could draft Justin Jefferson instead.

As far as I’m considered, that’s a heist by Howie Roseman.

Of course, the Eagles’ general manager can’t be praised here without also being criticized for selecting Reagor with the No. 21 overall pick in the first place.

It’s hardly just hindsight analysis to say Reagor was a bad selection; there were real concerns that weren’t weighted seriously enough at the time.

The value that Roseman got in return for Reagor obviously isn’t great in the context of Philly once using the No. 21 overall pick to originally acquire him. But the value that Roseman got in return for Reagor is obviously great in the context that he was too often a detriment to the Eagles’ success.
