Not being heavily recruited out of high school, Crowder committed to South Georgia Technical College and later Howard College, where he led the team to an NJCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Championship in his sophomore season.

While at Howard College, Crowder was also named State Farm Junior College Player of the Year. Later, he transferred to Marquette, where he was named Big East Player of the Year in his senior season.

After his senior year ended, he became eligible for the 2012 NBA draft, where he was drafted 34th overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers and traded to the Dallas Mavericks on draft night. In 2014, Crowder was traded to the Boston Celtics.

Suns

Jae Crowder won’t play for the Phoenix Suns this season.

Crowder will sit out from training camp this week after he and the Suns mutually agreed to find a trading partner for him, the team announced on Sunday afternoon.

It’s unclear who the Suns have engaged with, if they have at all, regarding such a trade. He was set to enter the final year of his three-year, $29 million deal this fall.

Crowder averaged 9.4 points and 5.3 rebounds last season with the Suns, his second with the team. The 32-year-old spent the past two seasons in Phoenix and was part of their run to the NBA Finals in 2021 — which marked his second Finals appearance in three seasons.

Crowder will now play for his eighth team in the league next season whenever the Suns find a trading partner, and his fifth team in five seasons. Crowder got his start with the Dallas Mavericks and spent time with the Celtics , Cavaliers, Jazz, Grizzlies and Heat before arriving in Phoenix.

In total, Crowder has averaged 9.6 points and 4.3 rebounds in 735 games over 10 seasons.

The Suns will kick off training camp on Tuesday, and will open their season against the Mavericks on Oct. 19.

Jae Crowder trade

Fulfilling a trade request is no easy job for an NBA team.

Jae Crowder and the Phoenix Suns mutually agreed he not join the team for training camp that begins this week, and now it’s on either his representation or his current team to find a solution.

Finding a taker for a 32-year-old making $10.2 million in the final year of his current deal is tricky.

Crowder will be most enticing to winning teams who will value his strong defensive profile and attitude while overlooking his ups-and-downs as a shooter.

His former teams know this about Crowder, who put up 9.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists while providing a lot more as a leader, especially on the defensive end.

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Dallas, Miami, Boston, Memphis and Utah are potential landing spots, though the Jazz is the one team rebuilding instead of contending.

For the Suns in win-now mode, we assume a return package will need to include at least one plug-and-play rotation player considering Crowder started 67 games last year and played 28 minutes per.

And before we get into it, let’s set expectations here: the Suns getting someone of equal value is going to be a long shot unless Crowder is only a part of a much larger trade.

Jae Crowder wife

No Jae is not married currently. He is focusing on his basketball career right now.

However, he has one lovely daughter with her ex-girlfriend, Dana Lambert.

They were blessed with their baby girl on October 23, 2013. The name of his daughter is Jada Corey Crowder.

After Dana, he stayed single for a short period of time and he stayed in a relationship with a girl named Lece Babi. The couple split with each other in the year 2020.

They dated each other for a long period of time. The couple broke up with each other after Jae found out that Lambert was cheating on him.

Dana has one twin sister named Dona Lambert. Dana was just 22 years old when she was pregnant with the baby of Jae.

Stats

After finishing his college career, Crowder decided to enter the 2012 NBA draft, where he was projected to be a second-round pick.

Crowder was taken 34th overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers; however, a draft night-trade with the Mavericks sent him to Dallas, along with 24th overall pick Jared Cunningham and 33rd overall pick Bernard James, in exchange for 17th overall pick Tyler Zeller and Kelenna Azubuike.

On June 22, 2021, in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals, with 0.9 seconds remaining in regulation, Crowder inbounded the ball from behind the baseline perfectly to a cutting Deandre Ayton for a buzzer-beating, game-winning alley-oop dunk to lift the Suns to a 104–103 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.

In Game 6 of the series, Crowder scored 19 points in a decisive 130-103 win that sent Phoenix to the Finals.

In the finals, he was the only player on either team with Finals experience. The Suns lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in six games.
