Born in England and having Irish ancestry, Grealish was eligible to represent either England or the Republic of Ireland internationally, Grealish was capped by the Republic of Ireland up to under-21 level before confirming his decision to play for England in April 2016.
He played for the England under-21s for the first time in May 2016, winning the 2016 Toulon Tournament.
Grealish joined Aston Villa at the age of six, and made his debut for the club in May 2014, following a loan at Notts County.
In 2021, Grealish signed for Manchester City in a transfer deal worth £100 million, making him the most expensive English player ever.

Whether it be his heartwarming explanation of his latest celebration against Iran, his perplexed take on encyclopaedias, or his comments on Miguel Almirón which have admittedly aged pretty badly, he’s always worth listening to.
Now though, he’s split opinion online with his comments on the World Cup – or rather, his pronunciation.
Grealish, of course, is a proud Brummie with a strong Birmingham accent, and it’s led to some confusion over his thoughts on the Iran game.
The Manchester City player was chatting to TalkSport about the disappointing 0-0 draw against the USA on Friday night when the talk point took place.
“I think there was a big overreaction,” he told them. “After Iran, we were the best thing since sliced bread. I suppose it’s what you get when you play for England.”
Only, some people thought that Grealish actually said “we were the best thing since sliced veg”.
Some were quick to defend him, with one saying: “If you look at his lips, ‘b’ is clearly the first letter of the word, not ‘v’. He says ‘bread’, just quickly.”
While another had a different suggestion: “I’m guessing from the smile and then the speed of the mumble, it’s a dare.”
We have to say we feel the same way as journalist and podcaster Adam Hurrey (@FootballCliches) who wrote: “I desperately want it to be true that he actually says ‘best thing since sliced veg’ here, but I can’t prove it, so best to let it lie.”

Meanwhile, England take on Wales in their final group match on Tuesday night, with Gareth Southgate’s side only needing to avoid a heavy 4-0 defeat to progress to the round of 16.

Jack Grealish admits he regrets his now infamous social media jibe at Miguel Almiron’s expense.
However, the England international insists he is ‘buzzing’ with the Newcastle United star’s response following a sensational start to the season.
Grealish used an unflattering comparison with Almiron to describe team-mate Riyad Mahrez’s performance on the final day of last season during Manchester City’s title celebrations in May. The former Aston Villa captain argued Mahrez deserved to be substituted for ‘playing like Almiron ‘.
The Paraguay international had struggled to make an impact under Eddie Howe, and had failed to deliver consistently in the final third during his time on Tyneside.
However, the 28-year-old has been a player reborn this term, and was named the Premier League’s Player of the Month for October.
Almiron previously scored an equaliser against City, and followed this with a goal of the season contender away at Fulham.
The winger has already delivered his best goalscoring return in a season for the Magpies, with eight Premier League strikes so far.
Grealish has revealed he messaged former team-mate Matt Targett to apologise to Almiron for the remark. The City star accepts the ‘stick’ he has received from Newcastle fans since, while admitting he should not have targeted a ‘fellow professional’.
