Morant was only lightly recruited by NCAA Division I programs and unranked by recruiting services, despite having been named All-Region Most Valuable Player three times and earning All-State honors at Crestwood High School in Sumter, South Carolina.

Nevertheless, he made an immediate impact at Murray State University, earning first-team all-conference honors in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) as a freshman.

He had a breakout sophomore season; it saw him win OVC Player of the Year as well as lead the NCAA in assists.

Also as a sophomore, Morant became the first player in NCAA history to average 20-plus points and 10-plus assists per game for a single season.

Ja Morant Suspended

Ja Morant will be away from the Memphis Grizzlies for at least their next two games, the team said Saturday, not long after the NBA opened an investigation into a social media post by the guard after he livestreamed himself holding what appeared to be a gun at a nightclub.

The video was streamed by Morant to his Instagram page, and it was not archived once he stopped the stream. The Grizzlies played in Denver on Friday night; they fly to Los Angeles on Saturday for games against the Clippers on Sunday and the Lakers on Tuesday.

Morant will miss those two games, at minimum, the Grizzlies said, without any further comment.

“We are aware of a social media post involving Ja Morant and are investigating,” NBA spokesman Mike Bass said earlier Saturday.

The league, if it finds wrongdoing, could fine or suspend Morant. Based on the Grizzlies’ statement, the earliest Morant could play again is Thursday at home against Golden State.

His Instagram and Twitter accounts were disabled on Saturday, shortly after the Grizzlies announced his two-game absence.

Memphis are currently No 2 in the Western Conference standings, led by Morant, a two-time All-Star averaging 27.1 points and 8.2 assists per game.

This is at least the second time in the last few weeks that Morant has been the subject of a league investigation. Morant’s actions were investigated by the league after a 29 January incident in Memphis that he said led to a friend of his being banned from home games there for a year.

Ja Morant Gun video

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant apologized via his representation Saturday after posting a video of himself earlier in the day, appearing to hold a gun.

“I take full responsibility for my actions last night,” the statement read. “I’m sorry to my family, teammates, coaches, fans, partners, the city of Memphis and the entire Grizzlies organization for letting you down. I’m going to take some time away to get help and work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and my overall well-being.”

The NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies had already announced earlier Saturday Ja Morant would “be away from the team for at least the next two games,” after the Instagram Live post.

The star point guard’s Instagram and Twitter accounts have now been deactivated.

The league is investigating the star point guard and the video, according to NBA insiders.

“We are aware of a social media post involving Ja Morant and are investigating,” Mike Bass, NBA spokesman told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Daughter

The 2 years old baby-girl is the heart and soul of Ja.

She was born on 7th August 2019, two months before the expected delivery date and had to spend some weeks at the hospital before going home.

Kaari was born to KK Dixon and her ex-boyfriend Ja Morant. The couple separated after having a baby.

KK posted her picture on her one month. Moreover, Kaari had stayed in the NICU for more than weeks.

Further, Ja Morant has captioned on his Instagram about his daughter Kaari “you light up my life in my darkest hours, your love gives me the strength to overcome life’s challenges.”

Like her father, she is already handling the ball on the basketball court. However, one title that the 23-year-old is extremely proud of is that of a loving dad to the three-year-old baby girl Kaari Jaidyn.
