Heisman Trophy 2022 Award : Who won | Result
The 2022 Heisman Trophy will be revealed Saturday night in New York as four finalists — all of them quarterbacks — head to the Big Apple for what they hope will be a life-changing night.
USC’s Caleb Williams, TCU’s Max Duggan, Georgia’s Stetson Bennett and Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud are the four names in the running for the honor given to college football’s most outstanding player.
While the pecking order among those four will be revealed once the winner is announced, the remaining top 10 vote-getters were revealed Thursday evening.
There are certainly names such as Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker, Michigan running back Blake Corum and Texas running back Bijan Robinson that some felt were deserving of finalist status, despite coming short.
Who won Heisman Trophy 2022 award
USC Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams won the Heisman Trophy for his play during the 2022 college football season.
The Heisman Trophy Trust honored Williams in New York City on Saturday, December 10.
- Williams received 544 first-place votes, beating out Georgia’s Stetson Bennett, Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud and TCU’s Max Duggan for the prestigious award.
- Williams’ win comes two days after he received the 2022 Maxwell Award on Thursday, given to the best player in college football.
- The sophomore recorded 4,075 yards, 37 touchdowns and four interceptions with 10 rushing touchdowns in 13 games this season.
The Heisman Trophy is given annually to the top player in college football.
Williams, 20, hails from Washington D.C. He attended Gonzaga College High School, where he was a five-star recruit and the No. 1 QB prospect in his class.
Williams played his true freshman season with the University of Oklahoma. On Feb. 1, 2022, Williams transferred to USC.
In addition to winning the 2022 Maxwell Award, Williams was a first-team All-Pac-12 and the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year. He led USC to an 11-2 season, which included a Pac-12 championship game appearance.
With Williams’ win, it means four of the last six Heisman winners are transfer quarterbacks. Three of those — Williams, Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield — were under head coach Lincoln Riley.

After winning the Heisman, Williams spoke to his fellow finalists:
“I’m standing up here today but you all get to go to the College Football Playoff. Guess you can’t win ‘em all.”

Williams’ most electric moment of the season came Thanksgiving weekend against Notre Dame.
Williams had the spotlight and took advantage with a dazzling 19-yard run where he spun out of a sack, found a running lane and broke a tackle as he weaved his way through a stout Irish defense.
It was one of the few times Williams played in front of a national, primetime audience this season and that performance certainly left an impact on voters.
Williams has been at USC for less than 12 months. It didn’t take long for him to etch his name into the Trojans and college football lore. Williams is now USC’s eighth Heisman Trophy winner and claimed the award in his first full season as a starter.
No player was more valuable to their team this season whether it was orchestrating the Trojans’ turnaround or getting a team full of new players to rally around him.
