George Kittle is set to make his 2022 season debut in prime time.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters there will be no restrictions for Kittle, who will be back just in time for Jimmy Garoppolo’s 2022 starting debut at quarterback.

Kittle was questionable each of the first two weeks, but practiced just once in that span. This week, Kittle was a full go on Friday after he was limited on Wednesday and Thursday.

A three-time Pro Bowler boasting a splendid overall skill set and physical style, Kittle has missed multiple games in four consecutive seasons. San Francisco is 7-9 without him.

Last year, Kittle played in 14 games and earned a Pro Bowl selection as he produced 71 receptions, 910 yards and six touchdown catches.

Kittle was targeted just once in the second half and instead used primarily for blocking, largely due to Trent Williams going down with a high-ankle sprain.

While he is typically a strong TE1 for fantasy purposes when on the field, it is very possible that he continues to assist with blocking for as long as Williams is sidelined. Kittle and the 49ers will host the Rams in Week 4.

Kittle’s target share in healthy games has shrunk the past 3 seasons from 27.0% to 23.2% to 21.4% last year.

He remained super efficient last season, ranking 2nd in yards per target and 1st in yards per route run among 35 TEs with 40+ targets.

Kittle also led those 35 TEs in Pro Football Focus’ receiving grades.

WRs Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk return for 2022. Those 2 combined for 39.9% of San Francisco’s targets.
