Gary Neville Blanked

Gary Neville has been brutally mocked by fellow pundit Micah Richards after the Manchester United favourite was blanked by former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo remains at Old Trafford after returning to the club in a sensational transfer last summer.

However, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner wanted to leave this season and drew public criticism from Neville for refusing to come off the United bench during their statement win over Tottenham earlier in the month.

As a result, Ronaldo was omitted from the matchday squad against Chelsea. He has since returned to the team and started against West Ham at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

Before that meeting, the one-time Real Madrid and Juventus superstar made his way over to the Sky Sports panel, but there was no warm welcome for a man that he shared so many successes with.

Quite the oppositive, in fact, as Neville was given the silence treatment before Ronaldo embraced Louis Saha and Jamie Redknapp.

Blanked by Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo was accused of blanking Gary Neville ahead of Manchester United’s 1-0 win over West Ham at Old Trafford.

Ahead of the warm-up, Ronaldo greeted Louis Saha and Jamie Redknapp who were on Sky Sports punditry duty.

However, he ran off before acknowledging Neville who was next in line.

Also filmed from the stands, the video shows Ronaldo saying hello to Saha and Redknapp.

Then, Neville thinks he’s next and passes his Sky Sports microphone to his left hand to prepare for a handshake with his right. But Ronaldo runs off and Neville is left looking incredibly awkward.

Of course, this isn’t the first time in which Ronaldo has blanked a Sky Sports pundit before a game.

But back in August, Ronaldo ignored Jamie Carrghed ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Liverpool. Carragher had previously criticised the Portuguese superstar.

And after Neville became the latest to be snubbed, Carragher was loving it.

He immediately tweeted: “Welcome to the, blanked by Ronaldo club,” to Neville before changing both his profile picture and header on Twitter to the incident.

The 47 year old has relinquished the position at the League Two side, and another of his Salford co-owners will take over.

Fellow ex Reds star Nicky Butt is stepping into the role, as of November 1st, and The Mirror tells how Neville insists that the club are in “good hands”.

The 85 times capped England defender has been in the part-time role for the past eight years, but has decided that the time is right to let someone more focused take over.

Also with Neville’s numerous other commitments in football, the United legend has been juggling roles as Sky Sports commentator and pundit.

And with his Hotel Football and other business responsibilities, both within and outside of the game, Neville feels that the time is right for him to step back.
