Gary Lineker to Alan Shearer
England legends Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer have brutally mocked Germany after they were knocked out of the World Cup at the group stage in Qatar.
Despite coming from behind to beat Costa Rica 4-2 in their final group game, Hansi Flick’s side were eliminated as Japan caused a huge upset to beat Spain after a controversial winning goal.
It meant Germany fail to progress to the knockout stages in an enormous surprise – and Shearer and Lineker wasted no time rubbing salt in the wounds.
Shearer shared a video of himself, Gary Lineker and Micah Richards in stitches in a recent clip from their BBC Match of the Day podcast alongside the caption: “Germany are out of the #FIFAWorldCup in the group stage!!!”
Lineker shared the same clip and wrote: “Football is a simple game. Twenty-two men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, the Germans always win.” If they get through the group stage.”
Gary Neville also couldn’t resist a dig at Germany on ITV Sport as they debated Japan’s controversial winner. He said: ” The reason why I’m a little bit relaxed is that Germany are the ones suffering and we’ve suffered a lot to the hands of Germany over the years.”
Discussing the remarkable end to the group, Neville said: ” It’s absolutely stunning, what we’ve just seen is incredible. Germany going out the tournament… I can’t believe it.”
