One aspect of the game that is always hotly-anticipated is the reveal of the ratings, and this year is set to be no different.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have both been given downgrades after not being at their best in the 2021/22 season.

Despite seeing his rating drop to 91, Messi shares the top rating alongside four others players, including Kylian Mbappe and Robert Lewandowski.

EA Sports have revealed the top 23 men’s players on FIFA 23, ahead of the game’s launch later this month.

In what will be the final game of the iconic series before the franchise moves in a new direction, without the FIFA license, there has been relatively little movement at the top.

Indeed, only three of last year’s top 23 (Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Luis Suarez) have dropped out this time around.

Global cover star Kylian Mbappe may have expected to finally be top dog as the powers of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo wane, but the Paris Saint-Germain phenom has just made the podium thanks to another pair of experienced heads ageing like fine wines.

He won UEFA’s player of the season award, he finished top scorer in La Liga and the Champions League en route to lifting both trophies, he’s the clear favourite for the Ballon d’Or, and now he’s the standout in the virtual world, too.

Karim Benzema has been ranked as the game’s best player by EA Sports, with a career-high overall rating of 92 for his base card on FIFA Ultimate Team.

The Real Madrid striker’s pace has shot up from 76 to 80, shooting from 86 to 88, and passing from 81 to 83.

Today on 12 September, The top 23 players in FIFA 23 have been revealed, with five players sharing the honour of being the game’s top talent.

FIFA 23 Ratings : Confirmed | Release date | Players

It’s the first time in Ultimate Team history that five players have shared the game’s highest rating and the first time since FIFA 19 that Messi hasn’t been on his own at the top of the rankings.

There are plenty of 89-rated players, six of whom play their club football in the Premier League: Son Heung-min, Harry Kane, Casemiro, Ederson, Alisson and N’Golo Kante.

Neymar flies the flag for Ligue 1 and Jan Oblak is La Liga’s sole 89, with Bayern Munich duo Joshua Kimmich and Sadio Mane also making the cut.

Rounding out the top 23 are Erling Haaland, Toni Kroos and Marquinhos, all of whom have been given 88-rated cards.
