Tomac began his professional career in 2010, winning his first race in his rookie debut. He made his 450cc debut part way into the 2013 Supercross schedule, and moved to the class full-time in 2014.
He won his first outdoor 450cc event at the 2014 Spring Creek National in Millville, Minnesota, US. His first 450cc Supercross win came in 2015 at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.
As Eli Tomac, the 2022 AMA SX and MX champ, looks to end his outdoor career on a high by winning with team USA at the MXoN, he is also excited to start his indoor racing once again as he takes part in the British supercross GP in Cardiff, Wales, and believes a global supercross series is the future of the sport.
“I’m so excited for this opportunity to travel around the world and race my dirt bike inside a stadium. I’ve always thought this sport should be on a full global scale.”
After the race, we talked to the now four-time 450 Pro Motocross Champion about how it all unfolded.
First of all thank you for putting on such a great show all season. You two even started 1-2 in the first moto, which was everything we wanted, although I’m sure you wished you had a 50-point lead coming in. This was gnarly, man.
It was gnarly. The more I think of it, though, coming in here with a 1 point lead…well, it’s easy to say now.
But, sleeping last night, I was fine! I wasn’t rolling around in bed, I wasn’t over thinking it. Because with 1 point, you just have to execute. Straight up you have to go be the best guy. It forced you to be the best guy.
Like, it’s hard when you have maybe 10 points and you’re like “I can’t risk it too much.” So, same thing went down today. We were glued together and thankfully I was the guy who came out on top.
