Green grew up in Saginaw, Michigan, and he played college basketball for Michigan State, where he helped the Spartans earn two Final Four appearances and a Big Ten Tournament championship in 2012.
Throughout his four-year college career, Green earned conference and national honors, including Big Ten Conference Sixth Man of the Year as a sophomore and consensus All-American and NABC National Player of the Year honors as a senior.
He was drafted 35th overall in the 2012 NBA draft by the Golden State Warriors and later played a key role on the Warriors’ 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022 championship teams.
Green, who often plays significant minutes for the Warriors as an undersized center in their “Death Lineup”, has been cited as one of the leaders in an emerging trend in the NBA of versatile frontcourt players capable of playing and defending multiple positions, making plays for teammates, and spacing the floor.

Golden State is contemplating disciplinary action against Draymond Green after a physical altercation with Jordan Poole at Warriors practice Wednesday, The Athletic reported.
Green forcefully struck Poole after the two came chest-to-chest during a heated exchange, per the report. The pair were then separated quickly.
The Warriors halted practice after the skirmish and the Warriors are preparing to defend their NBA title in the upcoming season.
Green, 32, a four-time All-Star, is entering his 11th season in the league, all with the Warriors. He’s a seven-time All-Defensive selection.
Poole, 23, is entering his fourth season after the Warriors selected him No. 28 overall in the 2019 draft. He broke out last season, averaging 18.5 points per game in 76 contests (51 starts).
The altercation between Draymond Green and Jordan Poole at Warriors practice Wednesday appeared to be serious. Fortunately for Golden State, it now appears that cooler heads might have prevailed shortly after.
Shams Charania and Anthony Slater of The Athletic first reported a “heated” incident involving Green and Poole at practice, which resulted in Green forcefully striking Poole before the two quickly were separated. The Athletic also reported that internal discipline could be imminent.

Golden State Warriors veteran Draymond Green reportedly punched teammate Jordan Poole and will likely receive a punishment from the organization.
Green, 32, and Poole, 23, were jawing back-and-forth during practice on Wednesday when the situation quickly escalated.
The pair of teammates had to be separated, and Poole was reportedly not physically hurt, finishing the practice session.
Green is known for his outspoken personality and has previously had fights with teammates, including Kevin Durant.
That heated argument occurred on the court and the Warriors suspended Green for one game.
Both Green and Poole currently have uncertain futures with the franchise.
After this season, Green could opt out of his contract and Poole will become a restricted free agent should Warriors not offer him what he wants.

On Sunday, Draymond Green and Hazel Renee, whose engagement photos they shared exclusively with ESSENCE, tied the knot in front of a large gathering of family and friends.
The wedding took place in San Diego, but there were other events for guests to partake in throughout the weekend. There was a bridal brunch in honor of Hazel, as well as a welcome party for guests to mix and mingle.
