Lawrence played his whole high school career at Wake Forest High School. During his high school career, he had 28.0 sacks, 204 tackles, 6 forced fumbles and 1 interception.
Lawrence was seen as the best prospect to ever come out of the state of North Carolina.
He considered multiple schools, including Clemson Tigers, Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, Alabama Crimson Tide and NC State Wolfpack. In the end he signed with Clemson.
In 2016, Lawrence played in 12 games for the Tigers at defensive tackle. Throughout the regular season, he recorded 55 tackles and 5 sacks. The 5 sacks he recorded in his freshman year is a Clemson record.
Lawrence beat the previous record of 4 set by William Perry, Ricky Sapp, and Shaq Lawson. Lawrence was subsequently named the 2016 ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year.
Dexter Lawrence Contract extension
Nose tackle Dexter Lawrence and the New York Giants agreed to a four-year, $90 million contract extension, multiple outlets reported Thursday.
Lawrence was entering the final year of his rookie contract and scheduled to make $12.4 million in 2023.

But general manager Joe Schoen made it clear at the NFL Scouting Combine that Lawrence was high on their list of contract priorities.
“We’ve had great conversations with (his agent),” Schoen said of the 2019 first-round pick. “He’s a great leader, great player. We’d like to have him here for a long time.”
Lawrence and quarterback Daniel Jones, who signed a four-year, $160 million extension in March, have hit big paydays since the 2023 league year began. The Giants also used the franchise tag to retain running back Saquon Barkley. Barkley is working out away from the team during the voluntary portion of the offseason schedule and hoping for a long-term deal.
Lawrence pairs with defensive tackle Leonard Williams — who has a monstrous $32 million cap figure for 2023 — to form a productive tandem in the middle of the New York defensive line.
Lawrence, 25, was the 17th pick in the 2019 draft, one of the selections the Giants received in return for Odell Beckham Jr. in the swap with the Cleveland Browns.

Elite Performance Cuisine is run by Dexter Lawrence’s girlfriend, Donna McCain, who also holds the position of Executive Chef there.
On February 16, 2022, Donna posted a reel on Instagram containing clips from a variety of holidays that she and Dexter had taken together, which served as the official announcement of her relationship with Dexter.
During their time there, they went on a stroll in the evening, dined at an upscale restaurant with a view of the ocean, and watched a stunt performance in which a man danced while spinning fire on a stick.
Since that time, Donna has periodically shared photos on her website that feature the two of them together. They went as a fashionable king and his queen for Halloween 2022, which was appropriate given that “queen” appears to be Dexter’s nickname for his fiancée.
The city of Manvel, Texas serves as the location of Donna’s business, Elite Performance Cuisine, LLC. The year 2019 marked the establishment of the business that quickly became known for its expertise in the preparation of meals for elite athletes.
In March of 2020, Donna uploaded a picture on social media after making meals for Dexter, a linebacker for the Oakland Raiders named Clelin Ferrell, and a defensive end for the Miami Dolphins named Christian Wilkins.
It is clear from browsing Donna’s Instagram page that she enjoys a variety of activities, including cooking, traveling, being of service to others, and spending time with her friends and family ( which includes her dogs Reese Bear and Dexter Lawrence II).
In addition, Dexter has published joint narratives with his companion, the majority of which consist of photographs taken during the couple’s trip to the Turks and Caicos Islands in the month of November 2021.
