Rice is an English professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder or centre-back for Premier League club West Ham United and the England national team.
|Full name||Declan Rice|
|Date of birth||14 January 1999|
|Place of birth||Kingston upon Thames, England|
|Height||6 ft 1 in (1.85 m)|
On 16 December 2015, just over a year after joining West Ham United at youth level, Rice signed his first professional contract with the club.
Rice received his first call-up to the West Ham senior squad for the games against Sunderland and Everton in April 2017, after impressing in the under-23 team.
He made his senior debut against Burnley on the last day of the 2016–17 Premier League season, coming on as a 91st-minute substitute for Edimilson Fernandes in a 2–1 away win, five days after captaining the under-23’s to promotion with a 2–1 win at Newcastle United.
Declan Rice is relishing the chance to build a partnership with Jude Bellingham in England’s midfield, insisting there is no ceiling to the 19-year-old’s potential.
This has been a camp with many challenges for Gareth Southgate but the undoubted triumph was the progress of Bellingham, whose performances against Italy and Germany have likely guaranteed a starting place against Iran on November 21.
Rice, West Ham’s driving force, is a naturally enthusiastic talker but there was a different tone when discussing Bellingham.
The Borussia Dortmund man made a deep impression on the squad — many say a sign of his maturity comes from how he is speaking to different players rather than those of his own age.
‘He’s 19 but he’s got the body of a 28-year-old — he’s a man!’ Rice enthused.
‘He thinks like a man, plays like a man and shows personality and character. He’s the future of English football for the next 15 years if he wants to be.
‘He is top lad as well — he really pushes you on the pitch. We push each other on and it’s a privilege to play next to him. I’m still only 23!
Declan Rice Chelsea
Leaving things late in the transfer market isn’t often a good idea. Panic buys are made, frantic decisions crop up, damaging purchases can hurt a club for years to come. It is said that deadline day moves are normally destined to fail. Chelsea might have to buck this trend.
Perhaps nobody would fit the structure of a rebuild better than Declan Rice. The 23-year-old has everything that Tuchel wants and in the exact position he wants it.
Rice brings experience with 167 Premier League appearances, leadership as the new Hammers captain and ball playing ability.
He is possibly the best example of what Tuchel wants right now. Quality, experience, perfected individual characteristics – and still young.
The England international is massively liked by Tuchel and could realistically co-exist with De Jong if the two were to end up at Chelsea together, although even Boehly’s budget couldn’t afford them both this summer.
Rice is also thought to be open to a move back to his boyhood club, though he would never push it. It would cost Chelsea a lot, especially late in the window and especially with the London rivalry.
However, if there is a sniff that pulling off a move for Rice could come to fruition then Boehly would be able to make a clear marker with the England star.
He was a player that brought up the bad memories of previous Chelsea failures too much under Abramovich to be stomached in a return move.
Ultimately a lot would still have to happen for Rice to even get close to a transfer this summer, but it’s not unfeasible that Chelsea take it deep into the window and act accordingly to the movements around them.
Declan Rice Girlfriend
Rice, 23, has been romantically involved with Lauren Fryer for the last six years, but the couple prefer to conduct their relationship away from the public eye.
Despite a preference for privacy, the couple let their hair down during a rare public appearance at the Reading Festival in 2021.
They were pictured rubbing shoulders with notorious former Oasis hellraiser Liam Gallagher following his headline performance at the annual event.

He had previously admitted that Declan rice girlfriend is jealous of his bond with Chelsea ace Mason Mount – a childhood friend from their time together at the west London club’s academy.
He told The Sun: ‘My missus is quite worried. I’m genuinely being serious. She’s quite worried.
‘Oh she’s just always: “You two . . . you love him more than you love me”. Honestly. We just get it in the neck all the time. But they need to understand the friendship.’
Declan Rice appeared to confirm the birth of his first child with partner Lauren Fryer by revealing a tattoo dedicated to a newborn boy during West Ham United’s Premier League defeat on Sunday.
The England international prompted speculation that he welcomed a son, named Jude, with his long-term girlfriend earlier this month by exposing a tattoo of the child’s name and apparent birth date – August 7.
On 23 May 2017, only days after his Premier League debut, Rice was named in the Republic of Ireland squad to play friendlies against Mexico and Uruguay and a World Cup qualifier at home to Austria. He made his senior debut on 23 March 2018 in a 1–0 defeat to Turkey.
