In an interview with James Werme, during his first show as president at UFC 30, a young Dana White said that he planned to make the Ultimate Fighting Championship the Super Bowl of mixed martial arts:

“We have got a sell-out crowd here of five thousand people revved and ready to go… Basically what we want to do is we want to make this [UFC] the Super Bowl of mixed martial arts. We want to make it more fan-friendly, we want to get the crowd involved in it and we want to bring back the best fighters in the world.”

According to a report by yahoo!sports, the live attendance of the event was estimated to be 3000 and the total paid gate racked up around $110,000.

The main event on the fight card was a light heavyweight title bout between Tito Ortiz and Evan Tanner. Ortiz retained his title via first-round knockout.

This was around the time when Dana first developed a passion for boxing. Dana went on to attend a semester at both UMass Boston and Quincy College in Massachusetts, but he never graduated.

The UFC President claimed that he ultimately moved to Las Vegas from Boston because mob leader Whitey Bulger was threatening him for money that he owed.

Eventually, Anne joined him and the two walked down the aisle in 1996. The pair are parents to sons Dana III and Aidan, and daughter Savannah. They reside in Las Vegas, where Dana has purchased several mansions.

Though Anne attends events with her husband, she is not a fixture in the public eye quite like he is. Dana reportedly likes to keep his family life private.

‘I did everything he said to the letter. I lost 30 pounds, my legs were so f****d up thirteen weeks ago I couldn’t tie my shoes.

‘No more sleep apnea [now], I don’t snore, everything is gone in ten f*****g weeks.’

Diet

If you made your way through UFC President Dana White’s multimillion dollar Las Vegas home—not far from UFC headquarters—passing the outdoor pool where White swims laps against artificial currents, the Pilates room with the floor to ceiling TV for group workouts, the massage and facial room complete with an infrared LED bed.

The room where White lifts, and the “cold plunge” and the steam room where he recovers…if you made your way through all these rooms, you would eventually find the kitchen, and in the kitchen you would find… sugar.

Sugar that includes: Boston cream Klondike bars, frozen Snickers, frozen Kit-Kats, several pints of Ben & Jerry’s, powdered donuts, and Pepperidge Farm everything—cookies, Milanos, etc, etc.

“I’m not one of these guys who eats healthy or whatever,” White says. “The reason I work out is because I love food and I love to eat”

White’s exercise goals are equally succinct: “I’m trying not to get fat, and I’m trying not to get hurt.”
