The Phoenix Suns are reportedly waived Chris Paul, according to Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes. Check it out in this article.
Chris Paul : Waived | Daughter school | Net worth
Chris Paul was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to Charles Edward Paul and Robin Jones. He grew up in Lewisville with his older brother, Charles “C.J.” Paul.
His family gave him the nickname “CP3” because he, his father, and his brother all share the same initials.
A former athlete himself, Charles Sr. taught his sons basketball and football and coached them in various youth leagues throughout their childhoods.
Growing up, the Paul brothers spent their summers working at a service station owned by their grandfather Nathaniel Jones; Paul attributes many life lessons to his grandfather and has described him as his “best friend”.
Chris Paul Waived
The Phoenix Suns plan to waive veteran All-Star point guard Chris Paul, Bleacher Report reported.
However, The Athletic and ESPN reported that the Suns are exploring options, including a trade, waiving him and possibly re-signing him.
If the Suns waive him, Paul will become a sought-after free agent who will draw interest from several teams looking to contend for NBA title.
The Suns want to make a decision before June 28, the date his contract becomes fully guaranteed at $30.8 million for the 2023-24 season.
Still, if the Suns waive him before that deadline, they are still on the hook to pay Paul $15.8 million even though he could sign with another team.
If the Suns waive him and he clears waivers, he could re-sign with the team at a lower salary than $30.8 million, allowing the Suns to retain a nucleus of Paul, Devin Booker and Kevin Durant.
If he leaves the Suns, it would mark the end of Paul’s three-year run with Phoenix as he helped the Suns reach the NBA Finals in 2021, but they lost in the Western Conference semifinals the past two seasons.
Paul missed the final four games of Phoenix’s second-round series against Denver with a groin injury last month.
Paul is a 12-time All-Star, 11-time All-NBA selection and nine-time All-Defense selection, but missing from his resume is a championship.
He played in 59 games this season, averaging 13.9 points, 8.9 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists. He signed a four-year, $120 million contract with Phoenix in free agency 2021.
Chris Paul Daughter school
Chris Paul has had a long and successful career in the NBA, but the fact that he has never won an NBA title is constantly held over him. The 38-year-old might be used to it, but his daughter isn’t.
While appearing on The Pivot Podcast, the Suns point guard told the story of how his young daughter was heckled at school over her father’s NBA career.
“My daughter is the sweetest soul you’ll ever meet in your life,” Paul said. “But she’s at that age now where at school, kids talk crazy to her. She had a little boy at school that said some reckless stuff to her that was like, ‘Your daddy ain’t never gonna win no championship.’”
Paul said his daughter held it together in the moment, but she was upset once in the car after school and called her dad, who made it a teachable moment.
“I had to have that conversation with her and talk to her,” he said. “And tell her, ‘Baby, some people talk and some people do.’”
Paul, a 12-time All Star, is an easy example of a future first-ballot Hall of Famer, but falling short of hoisting the Larry O’Brien Trophy has resulted in relentless criticism that unfortunately is reaching his family. But good for the younger Paul to hold her ground in a way that only she could.
Chris Paul has a net worth of $160 million. Throughout his time playing in the league, he has found different ways to accumulate his wealth and invest them, earning him even more millions in the process.
