Prior to his arrival in Philadelphia, Harper played for the Washington Nationals from 2012 through 2018. He has been touted as a “five-tool player”.

Harper graduated from high school early so that he could attend the College of Southern Nevada, where he won the 2010 Golden Spikes Award. The Nationals selected Harper as the first overall pick in the 2010 MLB draft.

Bryce Harper Mural

Bryce Harper has transformed from baseball superstar to Philadelphia legend over the past few years.

Just days before the World Series against the Houston Astros begins, a massive new mural of Harper appeared in South Philly.

Artist Joseph Dougherty painted the mural, which is located on the side of the Dougherty Electric Warehouse at 45 East Porter St.

Since signing a massive deal with the Phillies in 2019, Harper has hit 101 home runs in 455 regular season games. He was an All-Star in 2022 after winning his second NL MVP award in 2021.

But Harper’s most important achievements have all come in the last few months. He returned to the Phillies’ lineup in August after suffering a fractured thumb in June, subsequently leading them back to the postseason for the first time since 2011.

Since the playoffs began, Harper has been on an absolute tear. The 30-year-old Harper is hitting .419 with five home runs and 11 RBIs in 11 postseason games, with the Phillies going 9-2 en route to their first World Series appearance since 2009.

He was named NLCS MVP after hitting a go-ahead two-run home run in the eighth inning of Game 5 to clinch the series win.

Moneyball

Harper’s clutch moment was something out of Hollywood, which is why one Phillies fan decided to create a mash-up of his homer and the famous scene from “Moneyball.”

This video should give any sports fan chills. Harper’s NLCS-clinching HR — and the reaction from everyone at Citizens Bak Park — was already an amazing moment, but adding the emotional “Moneyball” score puts this clip over the top.

The Phillies’ 2022 campaign could not have been scripted any better. Many thought this team was dead in the water after early struggles and injuries to key players, yet they rallied down the stretch to secure a Wild Card spot.

Then they proceeded to knock off the 3-seed St. Louis Cardinals and defending champion Atlanta Braves before easily handling the San Diego Padres in five games.

Philadelphia will look to conclude this story with a happy ending in the World Series.  Also FanDuel Sportsbook’s MLB odds peg the Phillies as +150 underdogs against the Houston Astros (-180).

“It almost looks like Jesus too, should call it Bryce Jesus, it’s pretty decent,” a visitor said.

But the mural of Bryce Harper is slightly hidden inside the gates of Dougherty Electric in South Philly. The concrete walls of the company have served as a canvas for artist Joe Dougherty his whole life.

Also His dad owns the business and splattered across the bricks, you’ll find his newest work of art.

“He’s always got his game face on, Bryce, so I figure why not paint him that and paint him looking out and looking ahead towards the future,” Joe said.

Joe says the inspiration for his Bryce Harper mural struck him like lightning a few years ago, then after Sunday’s win he bolted for his brushes.
