Bruno fornaroli Sacked
Fornaroli played the first two games this season before being frozen out for last week’s 2-1 win over Central Coast in confusing circumstances.
Perth initially said Fornaroli wasn’t part of the squad due to injury, but the 35-year-old hit back on social media by saying he was 100 per cent fit and available.
But the Glory held a meeting on Friday where Fornaroli’s departure was agreed upon, and chief executive Anthony Radich said the right decision had been made.
“It is a difficult decision for both parties, but such decisions have to be made as we continue to rebuild the club,” Radich said in a statement.
“Moving forward, Bruno’s departure means we have an opportunity to strengthen the squad when the transfer window reopens in January and we fully intend to do so.”
Also he has been linked with a move to Melbourne Victory under coach Tony Popovic.
Popovic — who coached Fornaroli during his time at Perth — played a straight bat when asked about the rumours on Friday.
“I’m not aware of those rumours. I’m not aware of [any talks],” Popovic said.
“But, I think, rumours will always exist and, if you’re a big club, then you’ll always be linked, I guess, with big players.
“From my point of view, yes, it’s just a rumour.”
In March 2019, Fornaroli signed a two-year deal with Perth Glory and on 27 October he scored his first A-League goal for the team versus Wellington Phoenix. But On 23 November he scored his 50th goal on his 76th appearance in the A-League.
On 28 October 2022, it was announced that Fornaroli was leaving Perth Glory by mutual consent, due to an alleged contract dispute.
Also fornaroli was a member of the Uruguay team at the 2003 South American U-17 Championship in Bolivia. He scored in Uruguay’s group match against Venezuela.
In March 2022, it was revealed that Fornaroli was selected to play for Australia after becoming eligible due to a change in the FIFA eligibility rules in 2020 that allows residents of countries there under visas to play for their country of residence.
Because he made his debut for Australia as a substitute in a World Cup qualifying game against Japan and became Australia’s oldest ever debutant.
