The initial diagnosis of New York Jets running back Breece Hall’s knee injury is “not good,” according to head coach Robert Saleh, and the team fears the rookie could have torn his ACL. They will have more tests before making an official announcement, though.

Hall didn’t return to the Jets’ Week 7 win over the Denver Broncos after being carted off late in the second quarter.

He left the game after rushing four times for 72 yards, including an electric 62-yard touchdown in the first quarter.

Hall reached a top speed of 21.87 mph on his score, which is the fastest of any ball carrier this year, according to Next Gen Stats.

In the wake of his injury news, Hall tweeted his excitement for the Jets’ 16-9 win over the Broncos.

New York subsequently ruled Hall out of the contest a few minutes later.

Prior to exiting the matchup, Hall was in the midst of putting together another impressive outing for the 4–2 Jets.

The 21-year-old second-round pick compiled four carries for 72 yards, 62 of which came on a blazing run to the endzone to give the Jets an early 7–0 lead.

According to Next Gen Stats, Hall’s run clocked in at 21.87 mph–the fastest rushing TD on the season.

While the extent of Hall’s injury remains unclear, losing the Iowa product for any period of time would be a devastating blow to both the promising back and a Jets squad that has jumped out to a hot start.

What happened to Breece Hall

New York Jets running back Breece Hall, one of the top rookies in the NFL, suffered what coach Robert Saleh said is likely an ACL injury in the first half of Sunday’s 16-9 win against the Denver Broncos at Empower Field.

“Not good,” Saleh told reporters of the initial diagnosis.

Hall was hurt on a second-quarter play in which he went down awkwardly after being tackled by a cluster of players in front of the Jets’ sideline.

He tried to walk on his own to the locker room, but he couldn’t make it to the tunnel and stopped halfway there and got on a cart — an ominous sign for the Jets, who have leaned on Hall’s running and pass-catching during their surprising start to the season.

Hall tweeted after the win, writing: “Resilient! Through all the trials and tribulations. JETS WIN!!!!!!”

The second-round pick out of Iowa State began the day with 391 rushing yards and 218 receiving yards for a total of four touchdowns. He scored his fifth touchdown on a 62-yard run in the first quarter, giving the Jets a 7-0 lead.

He hit a maximum speed of 21.87 mph on the play, the fastest by any ball carrier in the league this season, according to NFL Next Gen Stats.

Hall was replaced by Michael Carter, the team’s leading rusher in 2021. Carter had 13 carries for 29 yards and two catches for 45 yards in the win.
