Houston Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks posted a cryptic tweet after he failed to secure a trade away from the AFC franchise on deadline day.

Cooks reportedly had many suitors for his services, but the Texans failed to grant the receiver his wish.

Cooks tweeted:

“Don’t take a man’s kindness for granted. Covered for the lies for too long those days are done. Crossed the line with playing with my career 🏹.”

The diminutive receiver did not get his trade away from Houston, so he will now spend the remainder of the season with the AFC South franchise. His motives for a move are not known, but it can’t be due to form.

The 29-year-old has been in decent enough form for a team that has won just once in 2022. Through seven games, the receiver has 32 receptions for 354 yards and a touchdown – not too bad.

In the Texans’ loss to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, the receiver caught four balls for 73 yards as he did his best to get his team across the line.

Brandin Cooks Fantasy

It’s been a disappointing season for Brandin Cooks in more ways than one. Relief in the form of a trade appeared to be on the horizon, but the deadline passed on Tuesday with Cooks still on the Texans’ roster.

Cooks (wrist) was “questionable” leading up to Week 8 but ultimately played, hauling in four-of-six targets for 73 yards. He missed practice on Tuesday, but considering he was an estimated “full practice” on Monday, his absence clearly had more to do with his involvement in numerous trade rumors.

Cooks expressed frustration with the Texans after he wasn’t moved by the deadline, and it’s unclear if he’ll suit up for Thursday night’s game against Philadelphia.

Cooks delivered at a discounted ADP once again in 2021 (134-90-1,037-6). He finished as a WR2 or better in 10 games.

Overall, Cooks finished as the WR21 in half PPR after finishing as the WR15 in 2020.

Despite a history of concussions, he played a full slate of games. He’s now missed only 3 games over the past 7 seasons.

In 9 games alongside 2022 starter Davis Mills, Cooks performed as a low-end WR1. He averaged 16.2 PPR PPG.

Former Oregon State wide receiver Brandin Cooks’ only worry Tuesday morning was that a speedy defensive back would snatch his $100,000.
