Simmons attended Box Hill Senior Secondary College in his hometown of Melbourne, Victoria, before moving to the United States to attend Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida.
In his only season in college, LSU began the season with high expectations, but they failed to qualify for the NCAA tournament.
Simmons left school to enter the NBA draft, becoming the third Melbourne-born number one overall pick (following Andrew Bogut and Kyrie Irving) in 11 years. Simmons is the son of an American-born father, Dave, who played professional basketball in Australia.
A dual citizen of Australia and the United States, Simmons has played for the Australian national team.
Ben Simmons Knee soreness
Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Simmons missed Friday night’s 131-87 loss to the Chicago Bulls and has been ruled out for at least one more game due to left knee soreness.
“We’re going to reevaluate it in about a week and see where I’m at. There’s some targets I need to hit and get to,” said Simmons.
Simmons had fluid drained from the knee and a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection before the All-Star break. Then he said that he felt pain after a couple practices.
Simmons added that he’s been struggling with the injury the entire season.
“I haven’t been 100 percent all year. I just want to be on the court, regardless of what it is and whatever position I have. I’m just trying to give the team what I can,” said Simmons.
Jacque Vaughn said that there were no discussions about shutting Simmons down for the season.
Ben simmons Engagement ring
In what came as a shock to Ben Simmons’ ex-fiance, the NBA star has sent a notice to Maya Jama demanding her to return his engagement ring.
Simmons, who in 2019 proposed to Love Island star Jama, is now demanding for his ring to be returned following the end of their relationship. The couple has cited their busy schedules as well as long-distance as the two primary reasons for ending their relationship.
Following their spilt, Jama decided to keep the engagement ring, which is estimated to cost around one million dollars. Simmons, though, is looking for legal recourse as he seeks to get the ring back.
“Ben was really shocked when she left and didn’t give him the ring back,” said a friend of Simmons to The Sun.
“He was madly in love with her and thought it was forever so was really p***ed she didn’t give it back. It cost around one million dollars and they were engaged less than a year.”
As well as being spotted out with US R&B singer Giveon in December, she was also seen cosying up to her ex Stormzy at the GQ Man of the Year Awards back in November.
The pair dated for four years but split in 2019. She has insisted they are just friends.
I’m sure she isn’t short of admirers after the showstopping wardrobe she has displayed on Love Island.
