Haas and Racing Bulls grabbed attention at Suzuka with a Godzilla-themed Haas and a Racing Bulls design inspired by Japanese shodo. One-off and special liveries have become a regular part of the paddock in recent years. Below are ten of the most memorable recent examples.

BAR-Honda – Italy 2004
In the mid-2000s BAR ran a series of unique liveries on Anthony Davidson’s car as teams used Friday drivers more frequently. At Monza one design humorously showed the race suit and driver seating on the side of the cockpit, a playful nod to past novelty designs such as the 1993 Williams that featured Sonic the Hedgehog’s legs.

Red Bull – Monaco 2005
New to the grid as a full team in 2005, Red Bull immediately used its marketing flair on-track. For their first Monaco as a constructor they ran a bold Star Wars collaboration to promote Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, complete with themed graphics and appearances from franchise characters.

Mercedes – Germany 2019
Mercedes celebrated 125 years of motorsport with a split front-to-rear livery at Hockenheim that blended their historic white and modern silver. The design referenced the legend of the silver arrows, when mechanics allegedly removed white paint in 1934 to make a car lighter and reveal the metal body beneath.

Ferrari – Tuscany 2020
Ferrari marked their 1000th Grand Prix at Mugello — their home turf — with a special burgundy livery for the Tuscan Grand Prix. The throwback colourway celebrated the Scuderia’s milestone in front of passionate Italian fans.

McLaren – Monaco 2024
McLaren have become synonymous with showpiece Monaco liveries. Their 2024 Monaco cars paid tribute to Ayrton Senna with the Brazilian’s iconic yellow-and-green helmet colours wrapped around the MCL38, joining earlier Monte Carlo one-offs such as a Gulf throwback and a Triple Crown-themed design.

Red Bull – Turkey 2021
When Honda’s home race at Suzuka was cancelled in 2021, Red Bull paid tribute at Istanbul Park with a clean white livery inspired by Richie Ginther’s 1965 Honda RA272. AlphaTauri complemented the gesture by featuring the Japanese word “arigato” (thank you) on their rear wings.

Alfa Romeo – Azerbaijan 2022
Alfa Romeo regularly swapped their usual red-and-white for the Italian tricolore at selected events. In Baku 2022 they launched the Tonale SUV by dressing the car in Il Tricolore, turning the Alfa into a patriotic rolling advert.

Williams – Singapore/Japan/Qatar 2023
After Gulf moved partnerships to Williams in 2023, the team ran a fan-designed special for the season’s closing street races. A public vote picked the “Bolder than Bold” concept, bringing the orange-and-blue Gulf heritage look to Singapore, Suzuka and Lusail.

Alpine – Austin 2024
Alpine experimented with pop culture tie-ins in 2024. They ran a Deadpool & Wolverine-inspired red-and-black livery at Spa, then debuted a striking “sunset orange” scheme at the United States Grand Prix to coincide with a tie-in game release, pushing the team’s colourful identity further.

Racing Bulls – Las Vegas 2025
Racing Bulls have become playful with livery concepts ranging from tortoise shells to all-pink schemes. For the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix they went holographic: cars and driver suits for Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar featured a shimmering, holo-inspired finish that stood out under the Strip lights.

One-off liveries offer teams a way to celebrate partners, milestones, culture and creativity, and they’ve become a highlight of modern race weekends — from nostalgic tributes to cinematic and local inspirations.

Arjon Basi, the popular London ticket-seller, has always lived for boxing; as he has pursued his dreams he has had to overcome terrible obstacles, including a "miracle" recovery from a career-threatening injury and a near-death experience; he pays tribute to his late father when he fights Friday 3 April 2026 10:49, UK Image: Arjon Basi

Arjon Basi, a popular London ticket-seller turned professional boxer, carries his past with him into the ring. Before every fight he leaves an empty chair in memory of his father, who died of a sudden heart attack when Basi was a teenager.

“My dad was my hero. Definitely was a big influence on me,” Basi told Sky Sports. “It was really pushing to have someone that you knew was so supportive of you. A good father is the only person in the world that wants you to do better than them. Even now, I’m getting goosebumps when I’m talking about him. I always leave an empty chair when I fight, for my father.” He described looking at the seat and nodding as if acknowledging his dad’s presence before he begins.

Basi, 25, had a promising amateur career but struggled mentally after his father’s death. He also faced serious physical setbacks: damaged tendons in his right wrist and torn ligaments in his left that prompted scans and grim warnings. “They did MRIs, they did every scan and said, ‘look you’re going to struggle to pick your kids up when you’re older, you should never box again’,” he recalled. “When they told me you won’t be able to do it ever again I’d be lying if I said I didn’t shed a tear or two. It was a very tough time.”

Against the odds he recovered. Doctors later called it a “miracle” the way his injuries healed, and he returned to the sport. Soon after, he suffered a life-threatening pulmonary embolism. “I was getting really dizzy randomly and I was really out of breath,” he said. “They told me look you’ve got a pulmonary embolism. It’s genuinely life threatening. If I had tried to leave it for another couple of days, the conversation could have been very, very different.” That scare made him question whether he should stop, but he chose to persevere.

Now two fights into his professional career, Basi will box in a preliminary bout on Sunday at Olympia in Kensington, before the televised section of the card. He still enjoys the journey and the raucous support he draws as a ticket-seller turned fighter. “Boxing ran in my family blood, everyone in my family boxed,” he said. “Honestly it [his support] is manic. If you heard York Hall on my debut, I swear it erupted. It was crazy. I’ve walked out, I’ve just heard this roar, then next thing I know I was smiling, laughing…”

Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre is one shot off the lead after the first round of the Valero Texas Open at the Oaks Course.

MacIntyre birdied five holes coming home, including the last two, to finish on six under par — a stroke adrift of Mark Hubbard, who birdied six of his last eight holes to shoot a 65, edging ahead of a group which also includes fellow Americans Tony Finau, Davis Thompson, Andrew Putnam and Steven Fisk.

England’s Tommy Fleetwood is among those a further shot back after an opening 67 in a group featuring his Swedish Ryder Cup colleague Ludvig Åberg.

The opening round was delayed by 90 minutes by bad weather, leaving 24 players still on the course when darkness forced an end to play.

Among them was England’s John Parry, who was four under par with four holes to play, level with compatriot Marco Penge who dropped two late shots in an opening 68.

The winner of the Texas Open will be invited to The Masters next week, live on Sky Sports, with the rest of the field made up of former winners, major winners within the last five years and players in the Top 50 of the current world rankings.

Finau is among several players hoping to be victorious this week to earn a Masters slot, having not missed a major since the 2017 US Open.

“I feel like I’m really close to putting together a string of good golf tournaments. I’ve had some good days during tournaments, whether that’s in the first round, the final round,” he said. “But I haven’t been able to put together I feel like really strong finishes and four days of good golf. So I’m off to a good start this week. I’ll just be looking to capitalise on three more days of good golf.”

Who will win The Masters? Watch the opening major of the year exclusively live from April 9-12 on Sky Sports. Live coverage of the first round begins on Thursday from 2pm on Sky Sports Golf. Get Sky Sports or stream with no contract.

Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu has warned Formula 1 against making “knee-jerk reaction changes” to the sport’s 2026 regulations after his driver Oliver Bearman was involved in a high-speed crash at the Japanese Grand Prix.

Bearman went onto the grass and spun at over 190mph before hitting the barriers while trying to avoid Alpine’s Franco Colapinto, with an estimated 30mph speed differential between the cars leaving the Brit little time to react. The incident prompted debate after Sunday’s race at Suzuka, with drivers concerned that the 2026 regulations — which require cars to slow to harvest energy at the end of straights — can create dangerous speed differentials.

Williams driver Carlos Sainz urged the FIA to make racing “safer”, and the sport’s governing body said it would hold meetings during the five-week gap before the Miami Grand Prix to discuss potential changes.

Despite Bearman being cleared of serious injury, Komatsu urged patience. “We’re looking at it from all dimensions because, when we make changes, we’ve got to make the correct ones,” he told Sky Sports News. “We cannot be making knee-jerk reaction changes and then a few races later be saying, ‘that was the wrong option’. The good thing is that the F1 community, all the teams, the FIA, F1, we’re all working together in a really open and transparent manner, which I don’t think I’ve seen to this extent before. I’m pretty confident that F1, as a community, we’ll find the right solution to whatever things we need to improve.”

On Bearman’s condition, Komatsu said the 20-year-old is “fine” and escaped with a bruised knee but no fractures. “I’m really grateful that he came away with nothing too serious. He should be back fully ready for Miami,” Komatsu added.

Haas have enjoyed a strong start to the season and sit fourth in the Constructors’ Championship after three rounds, a position Komatsu admitted he would have “laughed” at before the campaign. Bearman finished seventh in Australia and fifth in China, while team-mate Esteban Ocon scored his first point with 10th in Japan.

Komatsu cautioned it would be unrealistic to expect the team to hold that position amid a tough development race. “This year is going to be a very tough development war, and as a small team, it’s going to be very challenging,” he said. “But we’ve started this year very well. This kind of result doesn’t come along every single year. We are in a very good position but it’s not about protecting that position, it’s not about really keeping that position, it’s about maximising our capability, looking at our process and forecasts, and then getting the best out of car, our team and our drivers, so we’re going to be focused on that.”

Formula 1 returns May 1-3 with the Miami Grand Prix, the season’s second Sprint weekend.

Friday 3 April 2026 — A heated moment in Manchester overshadowed an otherwise high-quality Premier League Darts quarter-final as Luke Littler and Gian van Veen traded words in the deciding leg.

The contest, played in front of a vocal crowd, had been tight throughout, with both players producing heavy scoring and several big checkouts. Tension built as the match reached a final-leg decider, and a brief verbal exchange between the two rivals drew gasps from the arena. Officials and on-stage staff moved in to ensure the situation did not escalate, and play resumed shortly after.

Spectators described an electric atmosphere as both players held their nerve under pressure. Littler and Van Veen, two of the circuit’s most talked-about young talents, have been involved in several close encounters this season, and Tuesday’s showdown was another example of the narrow margins at this level.

After the confrontation, the pair continued the match professionally, with the winner sealing victory in dramatic fashion to progress to the next round. Both players later acknowledged the intensity of the moment and emphasized their focus on competing.

The episode added extra heat to a Premier League night already rich in drama and reminded fans how quickly emotions can flare when a tournament is on the line.

Lauren Coughlin opened with a five-under 67 to share the first-round lead at the Aramco Championship on Thursday with Nasa Hataoka and Women’s British Open champion Miyu Yamashita. Coughlin, who played 127 holes at Shadow Creek last year when the tournament was match play and finished runner-up to Madelene Sagstrom, said her experience on the course gives her an edge.

The Aramco Championship is co-sanctioned with the Ladies European Tour and carries a $4m purse, attracting many of the top 20 players in the world.

Nelly Korda and Hyo Joo Kim finished one shot back at 68. Korda eagled the par-five 18th, while Kim bogeyed her opening hole and played the remainder of the round without dropping another shot. Kim has won the last two weeks on the LPGA Tour with Korda finishing runner-up both times; players haven’t finished 1-2 in consecutive weeks on the LPGA in 25 years.

Korda’s last hat-trick of wins came in 2024 during a streak of five straight victories, and that third straight win that year was also at Shadow Creek. Kim said: “Coming into Vegas people keep telling me to win three weeks in a row. I mean, I think I’ll just try my best like usual. There is nothing else.”

Joint first-round leader Coughlin could be the one to beat given her familiarity with Shadow Creek. “I feel like I know this place really well. Been in a lot of the places that you don’t want to be, so I feel like I just know the spots that I need to land it to a lot of the pins, where to miss if you have to,” she said.

Terri Harper believes Caroline Dubois blinked first in the psychological battle ahead of their unification fight on Sunday.

Harper and Dubois meet to unify the WBO and WBC lightweight titles, live on Sky Sports, after a week of escalating verbal sparring at London’s Olympia. The tension peaked when Harper pushed Dubois during a photoshoot.

Harper said the shove unsettled Dubois. “She panicked. She was off script. It was not what she prepared for and she didn’t know what to do,” Harper told Sky Sports.

The Doncaster fighter explained she pushed Dubois because the opponent stepped in front of her while they posed. “She’s very predictable. I knew for a fact she was going to do that because the first time she did it at the last press conference it got a good reaction. I just knew she was going to come with that,” Harper said.

“Just a little shove to remind her that I’m not here to play games, I’m not here to make up the numbers, I’m here to get them belts off her. I’m very laidback, very placid, calm but when it does come to fighting I have got that switch and people probably take my kindness for weakness. It was just a nice quick little reminder that she’s in a fight on Sunday.”

Harper also suggested Dubois has vulnerabilities in her preparation. Dubois spent several weeks sparring in the United States as part of her camp, and Harper claimed that move showed “insecurities in her camp” — saying “she’s got something that’s not working in her camp and she’s gone chasing it somewhere else.”

Dubois defended the decision to split training between the US and the UK, saying it offered a deeper pool of sparring partners and different styles. “Great rounds, sparred some guys that were out there [too], really sharp,” she told Sky Sports. “The USA style is so different. Combine that with the altitude training which I thought was really beneficial. Just a different style of training. The training out there’s so different. I was able to just pick up some things from that. The mindset, the training, the work ethic all of that, is phenomenal. I think as an athlete you have to keep trying to learn, keep trying to better your previous, keep trying to push on.”

Watch Caroline Dubois vs Terri Harper this Sunday live on Sky Sports from 7pm.

Our football betting expert and top tipster Jones Knows runs through every Sky Bet Championship match on Good Friday and shares his best bets.

Middlesbrough vs Millwall, Friday 12.30pm (live)
Middlesbrough have won just two of their last seven, cutting their seven-point gap to Ipswich to two, and Millwall can leapfrog Boro with a win. Still, underlying data favours Middlesbrough: over those seven games they’ve comfortably led the xG battle, averaging an xG supremacy of +1.4 per game. With some variance due to reverse in their favour, they should get back on track here.
Score prediction: 2-1

Birmingham vs Blackburn, Friday 3pm (live)
Birmingham start fast at St Andrew’s and are the standout first-half performers in the division, with a high pre-break xG and strong conversion before half-time (only Hull and Ipswich have more home first-half goals). Rather than backing a 90-minute result, the first-half market is appealing—Birmingham to be winning at half-time looks a smart play.
Score prediction: 2-1

Charlton vs Bristol City, Friday 3pm (live)
Roy Hodgson’s return to Bristol City after 44 years is headline-grabbing but unlikely to deliver instant improvement. He admits limited knowledge of the current squad and inherits an injury-hit group, so any managerial bounce feels fragile. Back the home win.
Score prediction: 2-0

Leicester vs Preston, Friday 3pm (live)
Motivation is everything here. Leicester are scrapping for survival while Preston are drifting with little to play for. Gary Rowett’s teams often grind out results in pressure situations; expect a low-scoring, hard-fought home win.
Score prediction: 1-0

Norwich vs Portsmouth, Friday 3pm (live)
Norwich have been the form team since Christmas (12 wins from 17) with seven clean sheets in 12 and only five goals conceded in that run. Portsmouth are struggling, have lost three on the spin and key man Ebou Adams is injured. Evens for the home win looks generous.
Score prediction: 3-0
Jones Knows’ best bet: Norwich to win (Evens)

Oxford vs Hull, Friday 3pm (live)
Oxford have generated a large share of their recent xG from set-pieces—about 3.6 xG in the last five games, over 65% of their output—making set-piece markets attractive. Hull concede a lot from set-pieces this season (high xG conceded and 15 goals via that route). Michal Helik is highlighted at 10/1 to score after a series of shots and recent goals against Hull.
Score prediction: 2-2
Jones Knows’ best bet: Michal Helik to score (10/1)

QPR vs Watford, Friday 3pm (live)
Loftus Road is the highest-scoring Championship venue, averaging 3.47 goals per game, with 79% of matches over 2.5 goals. Watford’s away games under Edward Still have all featured both teams scoring and a 3.25 goals-per-game average. Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals at Evens looks solid.
Score prediction: 2-2
Jones Knows’ best bet: Over 2.5 goals & BTTS (Evens)

Sheffield United vs Swansea, Friday 3pm (live)
Bramall Lane hosts are without a clean sheet in nine home games; opposing teams have found ways through regularly. Swansea’s Zan Vipotnik, the division’s top scorer with 17 goals, is priced at 11/4 to score anytime and is a sensible anytime goalscorer play given his movement and chance volume.
Score prediction: 1-2

Stoke vs Sheffield Wednesday, Friday 3pm (live)
Stoke’s form has lifted since Million Manhoef’s return; the last seven games have averaged 3.7 goals per match with six clearing the over 2.5 line. Align that attacking trend to a Stoke side with momentum and the market of Stoke to win and over 2.5 goals (10/11) is attractive.
Score prediction: 3-1

West Brom vs Wrexham, Friday 3pm (live)
Backing centre-backs on the scoresheet is a favourite angle. George Campbell has three goals in his last six games, arriving in the box on set-pieces and playing with confidence under James Morrison. Campbell is 10/1 to score.
Score prediction: 2-1

Coventry vs Derby, Friday 8pm (live)
Coventry need 11 points from their final seven to clinch promotion; that clarity sharpens performances. Derby have nine away wins this season but none against current top-half teams, so they struggle against the best. Coventry to win and over 2.5 goals at 11/8 looks the sweet spot if Coventry assert control.
Score prediction: 3-1
Jones Knows’ best bet: Coventry to win & over 2.5 goals (11/8)

Jones Knows’ best bets
– 1pt treble: Norwich to win; Over 2.5 & BTTS in QPR vs Watford; Coventry to win & over 2.5 (8/1)
– 1pt: Michal Helik to score (10/1)
– 1pt: George Campbell to score (10/1)
– 0.5pt double: Helik & Campbell to score (100/1)

We’re all set for a bumper Good Friday on Sky Sports Racing, headlined by Newcastle’s All-Weather Finals Day.

4.10 Newcastle – Improving Regal Ulixes takes on Gaucher
A cracking renewal of the Midnite All-Weather Easter Classic Middle Distance Handicap sees Regal Ulixes headline a field of 16 runners.

Andrew Balding’s four-year-old comfortably saw off Beylerbeyi to land a strong Lingfield handicap on his penultimate run, marking himself down as a handicapper to track. He followed that with a staying-on sixth in the Lincoln Trial at Wolverhampton and he will appreciate stepping back up in distance.

Willie Mullins saddles Gaucher, who tops the weights under Billy Loughnane. A four-time hurdles winner, he has taken well to the all-weather, winning his last two outings at Dundalk. He must have chances despite a 5lb rise in the weights.

An open race sees plenty have each-way shouts including Duke’s Command, while Bragbor makes his debut for the Fahey team.

4.42 Newcastle – Top stayers Duke Of Oxford and Beylerbeyi clash
Classy stayers Duke Of Oxford and Beylerbeyi do battle in a stellar-looking Midnite All-Weather Easter Plate Marathon Handicap at 4.42pm.

Duke Of Oxford, fourth in this last season, seems to be at the peak of his powers right now and, having won the trial for this race in January, he ought to be in the mix. Up 6lbs, he has the size and scope to improve and he can give another good account.

The Ian Williams-trained Beylerbeyi will head the betting under Loughnane and rates the one to beat after stringing together a portfolio of placed efforts. In the money on his last three starts over much shorter, he is expected to relish the return to further.

Of the others, Dramatic Star warrants respect for his powerful connections, while Berkshire Dancer is another to note with first-time cheekpieces fitted.

3.35 Newcastle – Sir Les Patterson popular to defy rise
A competitive Midnite All-Weather Sprint Handicap sees Sir Les Patterson bid to continue the winning thread.

Stephen Thorne is a trainer on the up and he has high hopes that Sir Les Patterson can follow up his Dundalk success and complete the hat-trick under 3lb claimer Jack Kearney.

Pocklington has finished in the first two on all his all-weather starts and looks set for another bold bid having chased home The Caltonian in the trial over course and distance in January.

The Karl Burke-trained Marshman has plenty of back-class and it is wonderful to see Clifford Lee back in the saddle, while Sarab Star is an unexposed type who may advance his form again.

Best of the rest
The Gosforth Park card gets under way with Billecart, Andab and New Monarch headlining the Listed BetMGM Burradon Stakes at 1.15pm, before Al Najashi goes for the five-timer in the BetMGM All-Weather 3 Year Old Championships Handicap.

Stateira has obvious claims for Andrew Balding and Oisin Murphy in the BetMGM Fillies’ And Mares’ Championships Handicap before Chancellor and Blue Rc lock horns in the BetMGM All-Weather Championships Mile Handicap at 3pm.

At Lingfield, Dark Ace and Apache Outlaw feature for Adrian McGuinness in the Midnite All-Weather Vase Sprint Handicap (2.40pm) prior to San Andreas and Unterberg taking each other on in the Midnite All-Weather Vase Middle Distance Handicap at 3.15pm.

Later in the evening, Keeneland plays host to the Grade 1 Ashland Stakes (10.16pm), with Kentucky Oaks fancy Zany headlining a quality field.
