Alvin Kamara indicted
Kamara, a running back for the New Orleans Saints, Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Chris Lammons and two other men face criminal charges connected to the incident outside of a Las Vegas Strip nightclub on Feb. 5, 2022, during the NFL Pro Bowl weekend.
A Clark County grand jury has indicted Alvin Kamara and three others for an alleged beating at a Las Vegas nightclub last year.
According to police, after the victim pushed Kamara’s hand off his chest, Kamara shoved him before another suspect, identified as Lammons, punched Greene and knocked him back against a wall.
The grand jury indictment said Lammons hit “Greene in the head, neck or upper chest” and that Kamara then “charged [Greene] in order to strike and/or punch [him] about the head, neck, chest, upper back, and/or torso area.”
The indictment reads: “While Darnell Greene was on the floor of a narrow hallway, Alvin Kamara continued to strike and/or punch Darnell Greene with his right hand while Percy Harris joined his co-defendants by kicking and/or stomping about the head, neck, and upper torso area, after briefly attempting to pull their co-defendants off of Darnell Greene, Christopher Lammons re-engaged by stomping and/or kicking Darnell Greene about the body and Darrin Young joined in by delivering at least one kick and/or stomp to the lower body of Darnell Greene.”
Prosecutors also allege the four men allegedly “[avoided] capture while leaving the scene,” documents said.
Alvin Kamara indictment
The NFL has not commented on this incident while following its standard procedure in letting the legal process play out before handing down any discipline, but Kamara is likely to face a six-game suspension once it has concluded for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. He remained with the Saints throughout the 2022 season and is expected to return for 2023.
New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara was one of four people indicted on battery charges stemming from an alleged assault in a Las Vegas nightclub last February.
The four individuals have been charged with conspiracy to commit battery and battery resulting in substantial bodily harm.
But it has taken months for this process to unfold through the courts system, so we’ll have to wait and see whether a resolution is reached this offseason which could lead to an absence for Kamara in the fall.
The victim, Darnell Greene, has also filed a civil suit against Kamara in Louisiana in addition to the criminal case against him in Nevada.
Kamara did not receive any discipline from the NFL this past season regarding the incident.
In 15 games, he ran for 897 yards on 223 carries (4 YPC) while catching 57 passes for 490 yards and finding the end zone six times total. This season was the first in his six-year career where he was not named a Pro Bowler.
Alvin Kamara is an American professional football player who has a net worth of $10 million.
