During his first season in the NFL, the Saints won the NFC South Division Title and made it to the NFC Championship game.

In the 2009 season, Zimmer’s final season in New Orleans, the Saints went on to win Super Bowl XLIV.

Zimmer became the Chiefs’ assistant linebackers coach in the 2010 season. In his first season, he helped the Chiefs allow 46.2 fewer rushing yards per game compared to the year before.

“The Bengals are saddened to learn the devastating news about team offensive analyst Adam Zimmer,” it reads.

The Cincinnati Bengals did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

The statement includes a message from team owner Mike Brown.

Speaking of Zimmer and his father, longtime NFL coach Mike Zimmer’s history with the team, Brown said, “Our organization has had the privilege of knowing and working with the Zimmer family for 15 years. We have the highest regard for Mike and Adam, and we are saddened by this tragic news.

“Mike and Adam were more than coaches for us — they were friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Zimmer family at this time.”

Corri Zimmer White announced the news in a heartbreaking Instagram post … calling her brother the “kindest, sweetest, family loving, sports obsessed soul there ever was.”

“My heart is shattered and it hurts so bad,” said Corri, who shared several photos of her brother in her announcement. “I’m so lost, I’m so overwhelmed, I’m so heartbroken.”

The Saints — who Adam coached for from 2006 to 2009 — are sending their condolences to the Zimmer family releasing an emotional statement Tuesday morning.

“Adam was knowledgeable, hard-working, well-liked by everyone he came into contact with, and enthusiastic,” the team said … adding, “The thoughts and prayers of the New Orleans Saints organization go out to the entire Zimmer family, including Adam’s father, Mike and his two sisters, Corri and Marki.”

No cause of death has been given till now.

According to various sources, Zimmer’s net worth is estimated at approximately $1.5 million, at the time of his death.
